Bidrage med feedbackVisited this restaurant for dinner while on a business trip in the area. We were impressed by the lovely view and well-maintained interior. The prices were reasonable, with a $5 glass of wine and a delicious starter of PEI mussels. The bread was especially tasty when dipped in the sauce. I ordered the pappardelle with shrimp and it was excellent. My husband had the fettuccine with sausage, plum tomatoes, and mushrooms and it was delicious, served hot and fresh. As a picky home cook of Italian dishes myself, I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great place, terrific all around experience. We took a large group here to celebrate a special occasion and they did a great job. Service was warm, friendly, attentive and helpful. We were in a private room with a great view of the water. Food was delicious all the way around! A
I recently visited Il Sorriso for a group gathering and I was quite let down by the food. They served us a complimentary bean dip that appeared appetizing, but unfortunately tasted strongly of vinegar. The chicken dish we ordered didn't have the Italian flavors we expected and instead tasted more like Chinese cuisine. Everything seemed to lack seasoning, especially the pasta appetizer. The lack of salt in the pasta water resulted in a bland taste. Although the service was decent, I was unimpressed with the food and do not plan on returning to the restaurant.
Il Sorriso offers a solid traditional Italian menu with tasty sauces and generous portions. We visited during Restaurant Week and were impressed by the wide selection on offer. The restaurant had a bustling atmosphere on a Saturday night, with a casual yet upscale vibe. Despite a slight delay in being greeted, we were promptly seated. Our server was efficient, though not overly enthusiastic about the menu. We appreciated the attention to detail when a different server noticed we hadn't finished our appetizers and checked in with us. The wine selection was limited, with no list provided for wines by the glass. The appetizers were flavorful, though the bread was a disappointment. The main courses, however, were exceptional, with housemade pasta dishes that were delicious and satisfying. We left room for dessert and enjoyed the mixed berry tart and apple strudel. While the traditional Italian desserts were not available, the desserts we had were well-executed with generous portions. We look forward to returning to try the pizza cooked in their dining room oven and to enjoy a glass of wine on their patio overlooking the Hudson River. We would definitely recommend Il Sorriso for a satisfying Italian dining experience.
I 've been going there ever since I started working in the area- food is very consistent and always wonderful, especially I 'm in love with their home made cheese! I used to live in Queens and one day I remember thinking I need to bring this to my husband! So I brought their yummy pasta and a couple other dishes even though it was a 2 hr. trip- Just to say how special their food is. Now we live in Dobbs Ferry, this is always our go-to spot when we go out! William, the owner of the restaurant, really cares what goes out to each customer and you just want to keep going back. Irvington is so fortunate to have you:
