Riverside Lodge - Irvine

We always love this hotel and was calling to book 2 rooms . Never got to finish what i was asking and mary said ill stop you there we dont . Lovely customer service NOT Went onto booking and there is rooms didnt book due to the way mary spoke on the phone . Room was clean. On our first night we tried to book our meal for 6pm but couldn't get it until 6.45 then of course it was nearer 8pm before we got served which is too late for me. Next night we managed to book for 6pm but think we were forgotten about, although we did make it known to some staff. It was 1hour 5 minutes before we even got our starter! Popped in with family for some food and first off, the restaurant is very nice, with a lovely feature of fish swimming around a large open tank near reception. Couldn't get a table where I wanted as they said it was going to get too busy, even though it was quite empty at the time with no tables reserved. The servers were great. My starter of King scallops was pathetic. Four small pieces like chewing gum (well overcooked or old) with black pudding dotted around the plate. For the price it was a joke. The main was disgusting too (thought it was a prank) the featherblade was like eating sawdust as it was far too dry. I might go again when the chef is back from holiday. Service: 3 Location: 4
