L&l Hawaiian Barbecue - Irvine

This is our preferred meal when we don’t feel like cooking. I usually order the chicken katsu and BBQ mix for a family of five adults, and I just make some extra rice at home. The portions are generous, and the food is consistently delicious. We also occasionally get their spam musubi, which never disappoints. The service is always quick and attentive.

I’d give this place 3.5 stars. I stopped by for lunch while my Tesla was charging, and I’m glad I didn’t let the reviews sway my decision. I ordered the Maui grilled plate for $13.99, which came in a generous portion. I chose salad and macaroni salad as my sides. The fish had a nice flavor and wasn’t fishy at all, and the salad was fresh. I usually don’t go for macaroni salad, but since it’s a Hawaiian dish, I thought I’d give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown, tasting like something from the store. My husband had the grilled shrimp, which he seemed to enjoy, but he also found the macaroni lacking in flavor. Overall, the food was decent, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to return here.

I tried the mixed BBQ plate along with some Spam, and everything was absolutely delicious. I especially enjoyed the mac salad and the kalbi ribs were a standout. Be sure to get the Spam too!

It has been a while since I ordered from this place, I always order to go because the place just feels cramped and always warm inside. Customer service is always professional and they get your order out in a timely manner. I ordered the BBQ chicken mini and spam musubi. No complaints about the musubi, was fresh, hot, and the spam to rice ratio was good. They gave me a lot more chicken than I remembered for a mini but the chicken was dry and was warm. If I hadn't known better, I would think they reheated an old pile of chicken from the day before. Definitely not an experience that makes me want to come back anytime soon. I would prefer fresh chicken and less pieces than a pile of old meat reheated from the fridge.

This place is Lowkey pretty good. I came here one day in a pinch and now i can't get enough of it.I let the Kalua pork and ribs combo plate and it's delicious. Kids love it too.
