Greek Islands Cuisine - Irvine

This is a fantastic spot for delicious Greek cuisine. I've been visiting for over 25 years!

Now, onto the food. I had a mix of beef, chicken, and gyro meat. Everything was well-seasoned, but unfortunately, the beef was overcooked. On the bright side, the salad was fresh and crisp. The side of hummus was generous—enough for two people—and came with two whole pita breads. I have to admit, despite the beef being well done, the overall dish was tasty. But was it worth over $36? Absolutely not. There's a Mediterranean place near me where I could've gotten something similar—WITH lamb, no less—for about $10 less. I figured the plate must be around $25, the hummus about $8, and then adding in the drink and tax explained the total. I get that inflation is affecting everyone (shout out to the state of the economy), and I sympathize with family-owned businesses, but that doesn't excuse overcharging customers. If you're okay with paying a premium for what you get, then this place might be fine for you. For me, I won’t be coming back.

Disappointing. Ordered the Athena plate to go from here. The main problem is the portion size of the protein. This plate costs $16 and u get a quarter of a chicken breast and like 3 small shavings of gyro meat. The meager amount of chicken is lightly spiced and dry. The gyro meat is sausagey. The hummus has way too much tahini and not enough chickpea, literally feels like you're eating tahini. The taboule is average. The pita is thin and cheapy. $16 dollars for this?!? Nothing in here warrants the cost. I could understand if this was. Closer to $10It seems like before they offered better portions and quality. Now, at best the taste is average and the protein portions are woeful. Service was fine. Subtracted stars for the awful portions given the cost. In Irvine, there's way way better Greek food for this price point. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I went there for lunch for the first time and I was surprised by the portion of the chicken they gave me! What is this? One piece of chicken cut in little slices? I should've checked yelp before going there! Very disappointed. I will not be going back. Please be fair to your customers if you want them to come back! The amount of chicken I received was nothing compared to all the pictures here.
