Bidrage med feedbackTrillium is in the space that previously was Alana's. It's become another campus area favorite. They have an upscale feel but it's not at all stuffy. Cocktails here are good and you get what you pay for. The food isn't as impressive. I had a highball. It's one of their specialty cocktails. This is about $10 for a glass. It is one of the better cocktails. They have a happy hour where drinks are a couple of dollars off. Also included in the happy hour is some of the food. They have a guacamole appetizer for only $5 at happy hour. It comes with some tortilla chips. This kind of food isn't exactly upscale. It's good however. They have mostly meaty entrees here but there's also some for vegetarians. It's a good successor to the previous restaurant here. On High Street there's plenty of parking meters. You can find some free parking on Patterson.
This place was amazing! My husband and I went here for New Year's Eve and I'll be sure to come back! On New Year's Eve they were reservation only which was nice. The inside of the restaurant was a lot bigger than it looked from the outside, very clean and picture perfect! We started off with their poutine which had brisket and a poached egg on the top. I would seriously go back just for that! We looked around and realized almost every table has ordered it as well. Next my husband had lobster bisque soup (soup special . When it came out it didn't look pleasant, but he loved it and ate the whole thing giving me a taste, and I was pleased with it. There was no lack of lobster, and the sauce wasn't the typical thick soup but still very good. For our entrees he had the duck, and I had the walleye. He was so full by the time he got his food that he didn't eat much but said it was excellent. I had some and it was great! The duck was juicy and tender and the star for me was the slaw that came with it! I had the walleye which came with squid ink pasta (never had before , the fish was outstanding, so moist and flaky and just good. The pasta, although it looks weird, was great as well! Very flavorful and had a great texture. I will be back :
Purse hooks, an outlet under the bar where we sat, cloth place mats and napkins. Dim lighting. White, wood and dark metal. The wine lockers are a neat touch. The bar 's long, seats something like 18. Very comfy bar cheers with high backs. And the foot bar. Oh, the foot bar. If you have enough restaurant-intelligence to add this priceless feature, you 've earned a special spot in my heart. Friends and I were meeting to try out their Happy Hour offerings. I was pumped to try their $5 Pork Poutine, only to find out it has been removed from their HH menu. Don 't despair, Gwen! Nate, one of two bartenders, pointed out their regular Pork Cheeks Poutine. Why not! Great dish. The curds were ginormous chunks. The gravy was also a good flavor, as pepper was not the main component in this tasty sauce. The fresh hot fries were the perfect base. Fresh, hot, also flavorful. The egg on top had a soft, but solidified, yolk. A great cherry on top . As for drinks, I tried their seasonal Very Merry Mule. Strong ginger (yay! , vodka, cranberry purée at the bottom, cute copper mug. Happy tastebuds. My mother wanted a Wisconsin. Kyle, our other friendly bartender, knew the drink, but they were out of straight brandy. Later on in the evening, he stopped back, had made the drink with an apple flavored brandy, and wanted my mom 's opinion. She was so happy she took a taste. Said it was very good, not too sweet. Worth a return, alone! Can 't wait to come back. There were a few other things on their Happy Hour menu that sound good, and, of course, several things on their dinner menu that caught my eye. They have a wall separating the bar and dining room area, which makes conversation a little more intimate, if that 's what you 're looking for. There 's parking around back of the house, which is a huge plus, considering this establishment is so close to campus housing.
So I LOVED Alana's Kitchen which was at this location before so I had high expectations and, while Trillium is NO Alana's, it is a nice place to dine. I love what they have done with the interior. They have made it very modern and sleek but it still has some of the more privatized spaces boasted by its previous ownership. My group of six sat at a large table in the main room near the bar and it was really great for us because we can get loud sometimes and we didn't have to worry about disturbing anyone. I had the strawberry margarita and it was meh. Mostly ice. I would never order it again. I also had a glass of wine and it was really good. They have an excellent selection. For food, my entire group was kind of disappointed because we had looked at the menu online and had our hearts set on certain items only to find that the online menu is no longer accurate. For someone like me who has food allergies and likes to plan ahead, this was bothersome. I ended up going with the ahi tuna salad and it was a great choice. It was super tasty and fresh but I did think it was a little overpriced for what we got. Our server was excellent and she took great care of us. I am not sure that I will be a regular at this restaurant but it is certainly a place I would visit again.
First time here, and we really enjoyed it. Place is cozy and modern inside, with great service. The bisque soup was to die for with bits of bacon and golden raisins. The filet salad was wonderful... filling and delicious. The s'mores dessert was an excellent ending, though I just wished it was a little larger. I'd definitely go back!
