Bidrage med feedbackThere is a separate menu for vegetarians at this restaurant. The staff mentioned that everything on this menu can also be made vegan. The food was absolutely delicious!
I tried the Jamaican Callaloo stew and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very attentive and the chef even shared with me how he prepared the stew.
While traveling through Inverness alone, I stumbled upon this restaurant. The staff was incredibly friendly and kind. I decided to try the Ital stew with gnocchi, and the chef kindly made a fresh batch of gnocchi to ensure it was vegan. In fact, most of the vegetarian menu options were vegan friendly. The meal was absolutely delicious, and it was a pleasant surprise to find Caribbean cuisine in Inverness.
We visited in June of this year having cycled around the east coast and north of Scotland and enjoyed lots of great vegan food. This is a quirky place with a nice atmosphere, but vegan friendliness is an afterthought. Vegan menu did look promising, but told only two options available. So we ordered one of each, but the stir fried jack fruit option only had two very small pieces of jack fruit and rice instead of sweet potato (sweet potato was on the menu he showed us not told about this when we ordered. Flavours really good but meal value poor at £12.95 a dish (for which we were initially over charged for one on the bill and we had to ask for it to be changed. After we finished he did offer to get us some sweet potato but having eaten the meal this was not really an option. After asking for a discount because of the poor experience he did take 10% off the bill but we'd not eat here again. Oh, and I know that we vegans can be the [censored] of jokes, but to crack a joke aloud in the restaurant about vegans (all inside could hear knowing that they've served two vegan dishes was uncomfortable. Vegans steer clear, there are much better options in Inverness. A pity as the flavours were good.
Tasty food especially the rice with beans and it seemed like a fairly healthy alternative to most vegan junk food options in Inverness. Unfortunately vegan options aren 't marked, so we looked at the vegetarian menu, guessed at what could be vegan, then checked with the waitress when she arrived. The portions were generous and the food was good not too oily as Jamaican sometimes can be. I saw some other people were saying they had to wait a long time we went around 5pm and waited a normal amount of time.
