Bidrage med feedbackWhile I live only a few miles away, I learned about the Stout House on Yelp. After reading the Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a try. I placed a carry out order for their deep dish pizza (pepperoni and sausage) and 12 wings (garlic jalapeño BBQ) Since I placed a carry out order,my review is limited to talking about their absolutely AWESOME food They say a pictures can tell a story ... think the pictures included with this review convey the story of how good the food was ... have driven by the Stout House for years without stopping ... I guarantee my driving route will change to include the Stout House on my list of places to go ...
Best burger, best deep dish pizza best calzone! Never been here? Give it a try. They are open late when others are closed! I've referred many here and they all love it. Definitely not in an easy to find location, not the cleanest looking place, but good group of guys that want you to be satisfied. Salad are not best value, but burgers are priced right. Order pizza 45 mins in advance as it is made from scratch but best place to get a pizza to go that is deep dish. Love it This best kept secret.
Stumbled upon Stout House last night as I was stuck in traffic on 96th Keystone. This gem is located in a small strip mall off of 96th. It used to be hidden by a Burger King, which has recently been torn down, which is why I never saw it before! We stopped in for beer and some food before going bowling. No draft beers but they seek bottled Coors Lights for $3! In addition, you can play pool for free and eat from a great bar menu. Per the other reviews, we split the deep dish pizza. For only $20! It was very good and it will feed us the rest of the week. It took about 40 minutes to cook but we played a few games of pool and time went by quickly. There was only one bartender. She was friendly and very efficient! Overall, a great dive bar with cold beer and fantastic pizza. With many TVs around the bar, I could make this my Sunday spot for football!
I chose to go early this evening to Stout House, an unimposing storefront type bar and eatery in a small strip mall just off 96th and Keystone on the north side of Indianapolis. A large off-street parking lot in front of the building provides ample convenient parking. It was my first visit. The interior matched the exterior, being a single unimaginative medium size dining room with a bar in the center. The south end of the area is sequestered behind a chest high wall to accommodate parents with children. There is a pool table in the north end of the area and TVs throughout, especially at the bar. The TVs were all tuned to sports with the audio muted. There was unrelated background music playing at an unobtrusive level. There was only one staff member on duty greeting customers, tending bar, waiting tables, and otherwise working front of house when I arrived; however this was not a problem in that there were only six other customers in the place--two at a table and four at the bar. The one staff member acknowledged me promptly and quickly brought me a drink and a menu, but in a curiously deadpan manner. Inversely, it happened that I was there over shift change and the incoming staff member was friendly and engaging but somewhat inattentive. They have a full bar and an extensive list of beers. The food menu is limited and perhaps rather heavy on cheese. Since I'm a fan of cheese, I don't see that as a problem. The menu does include a selection of appetizers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas and calzones, all at wonderfully low prices. I ordered the Breaded Mushrooms and the Chili Cheese Nachos. Both were delicious. The breading on the mushrooms was crisp and the mushrooms themselves were flavorful and not at all watery, giving evidence that they had never been frozen. The chili-cheese-tomato-onion-olive-jalapeño topping on the nachos was tasty and plentiful. While the decor has little to offer, the food alone makes Stout House a worthwhile reason to visit the north side.
The local spot. Made a late night take out order and had a beer while I waited. Food and company were perfect.
