Café Verona - Independence

Too expensive for food that is not high quality, especially for such an establishment. Might as well go to Olive Garden. Gordon Ramsay would spit out your food without a doubt.Do better.

The cost of the food is overpriced for the quality of food. We ordered 3 appetizers, and the amount and flavors were subpar. I ordered the gnocchi, which was good, but the chicken I added was stringy in texture. It was not very busy in our section and seemed to take our waitress a bit to come to our table. Overall, I wouldn't likely return for my Italian cuisine.

My husband and I decided to stop for an early dinner at Cafe Verona after touring the Truman Presidential Library and had the most fantastic meal. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and lined with amazing art. The staff and our waitress were friendly. The highlight was the food. Ever since moving to the Midwest, I felt that the Italian cuisine options were pretty abysmal; however, Cafe Verona’s plates were divine. Everything from the hummus, to the Cesar salad, to the pasta, to the tiramisu was absolutely perfect. Plus, for everything we got, the bill was surprisingly fair we spent far less than expected, I HIGHLY recommend stopping in.

We went for a late lunch after visiting the Truman Library. The food was good and since it was late they were understaffed at the time.
