Campeche - Illinois

After reading the reviews we must have gone on a bad day. We were a fairly large group and had a reservation and everything was fine, but it didn't take long for that to change. It wasn't overly busy but we got the distinct impression they were trying to turn over tables as quickly as possible. My family and I love Galena and were meeting some other family members in town that day and needed somewhere to all have lunch together. We had never been to Campeche but it looked awesome, so we made reservations for lunch. For some reason, our waitress was incredibly rude. It was as if we had done something to offend her…I'm honestly not sure. We also had to keep reminding her about drinks and food items that we had ordered but never received. Great workers and completely amazing food! You can taste the authenticity and work put into the dishes. We loved the chips served with the queso. We can’t wait to make a visit back again

Really friendly staff and great service. We ordered a bunch of steak tacos and of the 8, 6 were ground beef and 2 were actual steak. Didn’t realize it until after we had left there was a discrepancy among the steak tacos disappointed in their food. Their marg flights look fun though

We stopped by on a Saturday and like most places they were short staffed. However, Jasmine our server was amazing, and was clearly handling all of the outside tables and making sure everyone had what they needed. The food was served fast and was very good. This does not feel like a touristy restaurant in what is a somewhat touristy town. If you are in the mood for a good Mexican meal, we recommend it. The entire staff seemed to be working well together, we commend them on a job well done!
