WOW! I only stopped in and took a sweet roll to go, but I will most certainly be back soon. The ladies behind the counter were so sweet and patient with me as I made my decision- there were so many flavors to choose from! I opted for a huckleberry roll, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. Even at room temperature, it was soft and fluffy. I brought the rest home to share with my hubby over a cup of coffee. I couldn't recommend more!
We were passing through and jumped off the freeway to grab breakfast and we're glad we did. These rolls were delicious! Fluffy, not too sweet centers balanced with their toppings. All the flavors we tried, caramel nut, huckleberry, orange and original we would get again. The staff was friendly and very helpful. There were a few places to sit, indoors and out if you wanted to eat in, but it is set up more like a service counter. Clean and inviting. Worth the detour.
Bakery products are generally good. Three stars for pricing. Pricing is crazy. White bread loaf-$8! They trick you on the day old rolls. If you buy a half dozen rolls fresh, you get 20% off the regular price of $30, $24). These aren’t the large rolls! But, if you buy the advertised 50% off day old product, they take 50% off the regular price rather than the regular “discounted” half dozen price. Really confusing. I hate when businesses play games like this. And if pricing was more realistic, they probably wouldn’t have day old product!
I have been a follower of Mrs Powell 's way before the Ammon location. Those that don 't know Mrs Powell 's, it has been an Idaho staple well before the 1990 's. You could say it 's Y2K and used to be a mall food court staple. My daughter had a bridal shower a few years ago and we ordered dozens of micro mini cinnamon rolls and mini sugar cookies. I tried to order the same menu recently for a baby shower. I was told the cookies were no longer made. I have since seen them provide these to their Facebook friends. When I asked why they were not available a few weeks ago the baker said we make them by the tons. Tell them Chris sent you I was told they were closed that Saturday I needed my order and would have to pick my order up Friday. I was told they would package my order in the styrofoam trays with plastic bags so my order would stay fresh until my party Sunday. This did not happen. I called and talked with the baker Chris who was demeaning and rude on every level. I also tried to resolve this with the owner Amy Romriell who was just as rude. I will now be taking this matter to my financial institution since I was overcharged and there has been zero resolution but excuses. The owner privately messaged me being rude. Not IMPRESSED AT ALL with THE CURRENT owners of Mrs Powells. ZERO stars if possible.
