Bidrage med feedbackNot a pleasant evening unfortunately. My calamari had a funny smell, the spring onion pancake was undercooked and prawn dumplings were bellow average. When one of our guests complained that the steak was tough and we couldnt cut through it the waiter responded with 'I 'll get you a knife!! What the??Black bean didn 't have much flavour.. where 's the blackbean flavour?Extremely over priced and not worth it.
If you're in Oakleigh and craving delicious Chinese food, this is the spot to visit. At Tea Garden, you have the option to dine in or take away. I always enjoy ordering the Special Fried Rice and Singapore Noodles!
I've dined here several times over the years, and the quality of the food has always been reliably good and satisfying. Occasionally, the service can be a little slow, and not all the meals arrive at the same time. There have been instances in the past where one person at the table had to start eating while the others were still waiting for their meals, which goes against the idea of dining together. However, I've noticed significant improvements lately. They may have changed ownership, but regardless, the experience is much better than in the past, so it's worth giving it another shot if you've been turned off before. My go-to orders are the Battered Chicken in Mandarin Sauce (though mine usually comes without capsicum, which is why it looks a bit plain in the photo) or the Chicken Fried Rice. Also featured in the photo is the Deep Fried Ice Cream, which I really enjoy. It may not be the best I've ever had, but it's certainly good. I find the food prices reasonable, the service friendly albeit occasionally inconsistent, and it’s not a place that rushes you out the door. If you're in the mood for comforting Chinese food, this is definitely the place to go!
I give this restaurant 4.5 stars out of 5, reflecting its best moments. It can be quite unpredictable: some nights are exceptional, with the chicken being genuinely chicken, which is impressive compared to many other places. The ingredients are fresh and flavorful, and the batter is crispy and light. On the less successful nights, while the food is still better than most local Asian options, it just doesn't feel as fresh, and the dishes take a long time to arrive. Despite this inconsistency, I still recommend it and genuinely enjoy dining here!
Went here for Yum Cha recently and it was quite busy. It's a rather small place with a lot of tables so there isn't a lot of space for the usual Yum Cha trolleys. Instead, waiters come around with food on little trays only problem is that by the time they reach you, the food you want is gone, taken by the tables before you. In the end, you take what you can get and left wanting. Service is friendly and accommodating enough. Food although on the pricier side, is pretty decent. Plump delicious dumplings, lots of fried options, only just ok chicken feet not enough variety as usual standard dishes weren't on offer.
