Bidrage med feedbackOMG! Excellent flavor! I really enjoyed the ropa vieja and my cake. Absolutely delicious. If you want to experience Caribbean flavors, this is the place to go!
Not what I expected in Houston! The food was exquisite! We visited as a family of five, including kids, and the staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Our waiter, Esteban, was a real gem! The cuisine is traditional Caribbean, refined by Punta Cana into a delightful dining experience. I ordered the Pernir, which is slow-roasted pork shoulder, also known as pulled pork or carnitas in other regions. It was one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve ever had. The side dishes were adorable and delicious as well. The restaurant seems to be named after the town of Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and if that's the case, it brings a touch of the beautiful beach culture from Santo Domingo to Houston. A humble restaurant with exquisite food and perfect service!
We had a fantastic lunch after church on Sunday! We started with the fried chicken, which I believe was seasoned with either Puerto Rican or Dominican spices. It was tasty, but I might opt for a different appetizer next time. My wife ordered the oxtails served with beans and rice, and she really enjoyed it; the beans had a unique flavor that stood out. I had the pernil, which is shredded pork shoulder, accompanied by a small cup of sauce that perfectly complemented the pork, though I'm not sure what was in it. It also came with a small salad of shredded purple cabbage and dressing on the side, which was very good. Instead of beans and rice, I chose mofongo. According to Wikipedia, mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish made primarily with plantains. The plantains are picked when green, cut into pieces, and usually fried (though they can be boiled or roasted), then mashed with salt, garlic, broth, and olive oil in a wooden pilón. All three staff members we interacted with were excellent. We will definitely be returning!
The Cuban sandwich was the tables best choice with Yucca fries , Maduro plantains, side salad and some tasty bomb red beans and rice. The cheese empanadas were also a hit as I sneak away 6 for the road..lol Cozy little place supporting Latin America'sfood flares. PUERTO RICAN DOMINICAN CUBAN
This was my first time trying Dominican food and I was very impressed on how flavorful the food was at Punta Cana. The place was busy throughout our lunch which I think it speaks good of a restaurant. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The Cevichewas so refreshing and the chicharrón was crunchy and tasty. Definitely will be stopping by again when in the neighborhood. Also, they have plenty of parking which is something I?m always looking for.
