Julep - Houston

Gonna start saying that this place was ranked #46 best bar in North America. I’m puzzled how. Atmosphere 4/10 The entrance to this bar is weirdly hidden in the back. Difficult to find. The interior is mid…relatively dated, bar looks “loveless”. Really nothing special where you would want to take a picture even. Drinks 5/10 Also mediocre cocktails. The Martini Vesper was not good. The garnish looked ridiculous, almost insulting. The cherry sour and the Manhattan was alright. Service 5/10 I’m mad at places which ONLY offer valet and no self parking option nearby. I don’t want other people sitting and driving my car. Had to park 2 blocks away because of this. The bartender looked a bit depressed and not enjoying what he is doing. Waitress was nice though Price 6/10 $15 per drink is a good price, but as mentioned above, the drinks were not that good, which evens it out… How this place claimed a Top50 best bars in North America spot is a riddle to me. So many bars in Houston with a higher quality and better experience

Whenever my guy and I are in Houston we make a point of grabbing drinks at Julep. Last night our experience was nothing short of exceptional, thanks in large part to our attentive and knowledgeable server, Abby, and the exquisite cocktails she recommended. From the moment we arrived, Abby was warm and welcoming to our group of 6. She was incredibly patient and thorough in explaining the menu, taking the time to understand our preferences and suggest cocktails that perfectly aligned with our tastes. From low abv cocktails and the Naked Famous to the Espresso Martini and Paper Plane we were happily sharing sips around the table. Her recommendations were spot on! The combination of exceptional cocktails, a vibrant atmosphere, and Abby's impeccable service made for an unforgettable evening. I highly recommend Julep to anyone seeking a sophisticated and enjoyable night out.

Cute, intimate place, speakeasy-ish. Some drinks were better than others. Service was good, nothing over the top.

Perfect cocktails from a massive menu, bar staff do their job immaculately, great decor.
