El Meson - Houston

20 years since my last meal there and not only was it as good as the last time, it was even better than I remembered. Great service, nice selection of tapas, great ambiance, and delicious food. Ordered two entrees because I couldn’t decide what I wanted. Everything was delicious. Hopefully I’ll make it back to Houston before another 20 years goes by.

Jesus, our waiter, provided excellent service. The food was scrumptious, making this restaurant one of my top favorites.

Food was different but tasty, but a good change from usual pace. No complimentary chips and salsa. Music level was low. When we walked in, the crowd resembled more of an upper class Luby 's; we did have a 6pm reservation though. It was not super kid friendly either--no kid menu. As a side note, we were seated next to the back bar, which doubled as the office when a manager stood while working on the computer, and break room as the staff gathered to sit on the floor and chat while we were having our dinner...was weird. I liked the food, and our server, but will not be back.

Their tapas were excellent, great portions and had a lot of great flavor. Our favorite was probably the octopus

One of our favorite places for the last 20 years! Best Mojito in town. Cuban dishes are always amazing.
