Peppes Pizza - Horten

The restaurant was allmost empty but yet it took more than 1,5 hour to get the food. They also got our drinks order wrong.

My family of three went out to dinner on a Sunday in April 2022. Although our table reservation wasn't recorded, we were quickly seated as the restaurant was not busy. We enjoyed delicious pizzas with flavorful crusts and traditional toppings. The beer selection was limited. The staff was friendly, but the service was a bit slow at times.

First of all; Peppe's is a national chain so this is a reflection of one of their restaurants and not the chain as a whole. We usually go to Peppe's twice a year when we visit Horten as kind of a farewell dinner before heading out again and one thing that has been extremely consistent over the years is that the pizza and dips etc. are uniformly good to excellent and the service both in timeliness, execution and personality tend to range from mediocre to poor. Now with these times being COVID times there are allowances made, but overall from the moment we were greeted (after being left waiting at the door without any greeting or anything else despite the service counter with staff behind it being right at the entrance by the service highlight of the day in the form of a friendly young guy who graciously asked us to wait to be seated. Fine, smile, verbal exchange and all good, then what would be our waitress with a name that starts with R showed up, no smile, no greeting, no information about Covid precautions (with the exception of the scannable QRC to register and we were shown to a table (we were six , a bit tight so pulled over a chair from the table next to us which with the current restrictions would be empty anyway.....oh no sir....that was not allowed and according to her had never been allowed even without the Covid restrictions at which point we had a little discussion involving prior visits, table sizes etc. after which she huffed off to prepare another table after we pointed out that A. that table is free and B. it is large enough to take six people since we have sat there before. After a ordering sequence filled with some aggravations (not to hard to understand when i tell her one pizza half this number and half that number one would think... . Pizzas came, courtesy of our friendly chap that greeted us but no side salads (we had ordered two , then one showed up and when we asked for the other one.......What do you mean you ordered two? You get the gist, food is good. Needless to say (and this does not happen often after over 30 years working in hospitals we had our food and left no tip.

Met up with a friend at Peppes, and thought dirty something other than pizza. Wrong move! While my friend enjoyed her veggie pizza, the burritos served with my Taco salad were burnt on the ends. The salad was lettuce, corn, and avocado and tortilla chips on the side. Ok, but boring. Next time I 'll order pizza!

The pizza at this restaurant is fantastic and the location is perfect. We were fortunate to secure a table outside, which was a relief because it was very hot inside. The outdoor patio is situated right by the water. Although the prices are high, the food is excellent.
