Bidrage med feedbackWe just had the best post movie meal at the Red Lion Diner. We walked in 20 minutes before closing unaware that it wasn't a 24 hr diner. We were going to leave but the staff was really nice and invited us to stay. Our waitress was Shirley and from glancing at other reviews she's who you want taking care of you here. There were lots of specials but we wanted breakfast food. I didn't see what I wanted on the menu but Shirley hooked me up with a scrapple and cheese omelette that was cooked well done as I like it. The bagel was a traditional Jewish bagel full of everything season on both sides. My date got a little bit of everything. He only wanted sausage links and was happy to hear they had both links and pattys. His pancake stack was huge. Toast came buttered which he appreciated. The dessert case was tempting so we grabbed a slice of cheese cake and carrot cake to go. They are doing a lot of renovations so the place may look new of you haven't been there in a while but still boasts that dining car diner look on the outside. They also had a nice size private area for parties. I've never had a whole dinner to myself. We thought we'd be rushed because everyone wanted to go home but instead the staff was friendly and we enjoyed talking with them. As of December 1st the diner will only open until 9 pm. I definitely plan to return and ask for Shirley. I feel like she will remember us when we do. This spot is perfect for a pre-movie dinner or post movie meal if you catch an early show. Thanks to the staff for letting us eat and for making us feel so special tonight.
Not what it used to be. Dirty walls and booth, wires hanging out of the ceiling, three different people were trying to take our order. The pancakes were chewy (over-mixed? , tomato juice tasted funny, and the TV just plays ads, one of which it was for a gastroenterologist! Ugh, I hate leaving negative reviews especially when the owners were very nice.
The note on the door said they have changed their hours and your food might take longer because of staff shortages. There were more servers on staff than customers in the restaurant at 1230pm on a Thursday. I splurged for the chicken fingers entree(14.99) and received 4 of the 6 listed chicken fingers with my meal. I had ordered with sweet and sour sauce as indicated on the menu. I got honey mustard. I had ordered corn and mashed potatoes, my food came out with no sides. When I received the corn, it was apparent that it had been (over) microwaved and the mashed potatoes were rushed out of the kitchen cold with luke warm gravy on them. Never a thought to refill my beverage from the server. They were out of swiss cheese. As a former restaurant owner if I ran out of swiss cheese I would go and buy some. You would do better to go to one of the diners closer to street road, this place is pretty gnarly.
I think this might have changed owners recently? I noticed a lot of changes to the menu, mostly the addition of some Indian fare. I would love it if they leaned into it and had more Indian dishes but it felt forced. I got the omelet and felt like they just put some cilantro on a regular omelet. I have high hopes that they can make the changes to the menu work and be something really good, so I will be back soon to try again.
Great meal and service! They accommodated 13 of us and everything came out great. Thanks Diana!!
