Bidrage med feedbackSunday dinners can be hard to find. Many restaurant owners and managers decide to close the Sabbath while others bring heavy post-church masses. Amigo Juan's in Hope last Sunday we were lucky to find a parking lot. The restaurant along North Hervey Street is bright and colorful, just like the three other places (Texarkana, New Boston and Atlanta, all in Texas) and on this special Sunday there was a ten-minute waiting time to get into the door. We wondered about the great Danes that were held captive in bright colors
Sunday dinners can be hard to find. We marveled at the great Danes who were held captive in brightly colored porcelain in the entrance area and the cute colour bursts in the whole restaurant. It wasn't long before Grav, Hunter and I were shown at a stand where we lied a little before we set up our appetizer. Amigo Juan was opened in 2003 by Sergio and Maria Rodriguez in Texarkana. The couple fell in love when they were 16 and 15 were in Chihuahua, Mexico. Just before they were married, Sergio came to Arkansas to stay with Maria's relatives, and they decided to make a home here. Their restaurants have family recipes and they were very successful, so today there are four Amigo Juans. We came in hunger, very hungry, and decided to order the Botanas Platter and then wait to get our own separate dishes. We were greeted with rich, fresh and cloby red salsa and bright yellow chips (it even gave light green chips, but Hunter claimed them all) that were consumed quickly. The Botanas Platter seemed a good bet, and it had a little everything on it. There was a small quesadilla packed with beautiful grilled chicken that had a lot of taste. There were both maize tortilla taquitoes and flour tortilla
Amigo Juan is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. Every time I've eaten here, I've never been disappointed. Her green salsa is too tasty for words like her fresh strawberry punch! Very recommended!
Always good!. In a town with 3 pretty good Mexican restaurants, there's always a debate over which one is the best. My husband prefers the more authentic one, but Amigo Juan's is my favorite. We normally order the Beef Burrito Asada with White Queso. Their lunch specials are great too. I can't say I've ever had anything that I didn't like. Their red salsa isn't my favorite, but I love the green salsa. The service is always great.
Good food and moderate prices. Fast service and friendly. Food is better than the average Mexican chains.
