Bidrage med feedbackKind of hidden back off of the sidewalk. Good food with fast friendly service.
This is my go to place and everything I order is good, but this time....not too good.Ordered the Buckwheat pancakes and it tasted like Sour Dough, so we exchanged it to Banana pancakes but the batter was not the same.I would hate to write them off, but I will try the Kalihi location before I close the book on my favorite go to from Hana Butta days breakfast place.
Been coming here for years and this is definitely one of my favorite breakfast places. There can be a long wait so get there early or be prepared to be patient. Amazingly they offer takeout which is great. There is an old fashioned feel to the interior that is comforting. The service is very good and everyone is friendly and attentive and they're quick too. I love their garden special omelette and dutch baby!!! The garden special omelette is in a baked style which is unique, a little firm on the outside and somehow still fluffy overall with yummy softness on the inside. Bonus that it's a huge portion! There are different styles of omelette based on the description (fluffy or French) and I would guess you can't go wrong with any of their omelettes. I think we tried the potato omelette, Denver omelette, and I think broccoli and cheese omelette in the past and all were delish. Hash brown is crispy on the outside with a tender and soft interior which is exactly how it ought to be. It kinda reminds me of a better version of fast food hash browns from McDonalds. The dutch baby is crispy on the top and sides and soft in the middle (see a trend here with my preferred textures haha). Having the butter, powdered sugar, and lemon is a perfect compliment and really elevates the flavor. My husband had the corned beef hash which was one of the better ones I've tried. It's crispy on the outside, still a little soft in the middle, and seasoned well. Husband said he wished they gave two scoops of rice but other than that had no complaints.
My husband really loves this place. I love the atmosphere and the service. Staff is wonderful and quick to serve. It does get busy, so expect a wait. Parking is right next door so it is convenient. The food is average.
Original pancake house is sooo good! I should caution that they do get pretty busy from time to time, especially for brunch. I like to describe the restaurant as just a simple breakfast place you go to as a child with your mom and dad. The overall look of it is pretty vintage, but it gives such a nostalgic feeling. Their breakfasts are pretty simple (general Hawaii style breakfast with some meat, eggs, and rice (or with hash brown and/or toast). They also have a variety of omelettes and pancakes/waffles as well! This time, we ordered the Dutch Baby. To my understanding, it's a pancake cooked in a Dutch oven in which you sprinkle it with powdered sugar and lemon. Heads up, this does take about 25 min to make so I suggest you order it first thing! To be quite honest, I personally prefer the 49er over the Dutch baby. They are similar in toppings/taste, but the textures are different. The 49er has a crepe-like consistency, whereas the Dutch Baby is dense. Overall, food is a go-to simple meal. I'm personally giving 4 stars because our waitress, at this time of our visit, forgot to put our Dutch Baby order so we ended up waiting longer than 25, and she also forgot to give us out to-go box after asking for it twice. Though, I couldn't blame her... they are pretty busy.
