This local fast food restaurant is pretty good! Before arriving, either order ahead or wait in line knowing exactly what you want. The window you order from is the same window you pick up your food. It’s a little unorganized, but it works. They do not provide condiments, so if that is important bring it beforehand. The chilli fries are delicious and the loco moco bowl was a perfect size. It was a Tuesday, so I also ordered the kalua pig and cabbage. It was more cabbage than pork but still really good! The Mac salad was light and also good. I would come again to try the bbq pork rice plate.

Historic/popular Drive in that has your classic Hawaiian plates/dishes. I’ve gotten in the past a bunch of different plate lunches. Most of the time the corn beef plate. This trip to Hawaii we were waning towards their chili over rice. Feels like home cooking at your aunts.

A cheap place to try if you are a tourist. A private tour guide took me here. It’s not exactly fine dining or classy but it was a big portion, cheap and food was good! I had the chilli beef with rice and a massive coke. Was nice!! I suggest to order online for pickup when you arrive as it’s always busy and a long wait here to just order and about 5 mins later to get your food. I’m always on a high protein diet, and lots of good options of all different options for meat.

I've certainly eaten my way around the menu at Rainbow... several times. It's become somewhat of a breakfast staple for me each time I visit the island. The food here is decent probably one of the cheapest places to pick up a plate lunch in Waikiki. Those unaware, Rainbow Drive-In has been an iconic piece of the Hawiian landscape for going on 50 years remains a beacon for locals looking for breakfast or lunch on the go. Consistently busy a 10 minute walk from Waikiki Beach, I recommend dropping in trying the Shoyu Chicken Plate (Monday, Wednesday, Friday Saturday) or the very local Loco Moco Plate. It's stodgy it's delicious. My favourite though remains the Tuesday specials, BBQ Ahi and the Kailua Pork with Cabbage. Yuuuum!!
