We sat at the table and served several great dishes — an Abalone Gnocchi, a coconut-coal-sous-vide shrimp and sea bass. I recommend skipping the cheaper wine pair. None of the wines were especially unforgettable. The Maitre d was excellent. But our main server, while very nice was not well informed about the dishes or the wines.
Very good. Chef is Japanese but studied french cuisine in France. Fusion cuisine. Love the sake pairing.
Innovative and fun dinner. We sat at the chefs table set dinner was $95 per person. Wait staff were nice, some superb but some lacking in training. Don’t miss the lava cake a theatrical experience and interesting to taste.
The true example of when the service let down the whole experience. Real shame. The atmosphere, and the food itself I would give 4 star. As others pointed out, the mariage of Hawaiian local food in a French style cuisine with Japanese essence is very unique and I can’t imagine to try anywhere else. Although the man who served us was nice and doing his job perfectly, but the way he rushed us serving food was too much. He brought us the first dish (which was oyster with shaved ice) before we have decided our first drink. Since the menu was shaved ice, by the time we got our glass, everything has melted by then. Personally I also didn’t understand why there was no sign of price of the course. We had to ask the waiter because there was no indication to any of our menu. I don’t know how many people are comfortable ordering the course without knowing the price...
Celebrated my dad's and aunt's birthdays here (twins). Tako was too chewy and tough for all 5 of us, but I loved the flavors of each course and the lava cake dessert finished tableside.
