Bidrage med feedbackOmg. It's like a Japanese tea, a little men's geisha house vibe, with some Filipino love thrown in. Like what is really behind that wall, ya know, haha just the bathrooms). But then they play whatever music they're feeling and we dug the old school rap. It's a super neat place that you'd never know was there if not for the small signs they now have in the front and back of the building. 1) Make a resy 2) Park in the cheap lot $3) 3) Bring someone who appreciates a tastebud adventure. They change out some of the menu items so there's new things to try Strong 4.5 stars. It's not like we get to enjoy places like this a lot so decided to make the most of it! If I had to be selective, the asterisks are my favs. Daily Pickle*, just a little tea cup size to get you started. It was pickled bittermelon this time and I could have eaten just this Eggplant*, I'm always into eggplant Bistek*, venison skewers, super tender Sticky Rice, a little jung Abalone, the table was in love Ensalada, not memorable Beef Tartare, we loved the first one with the thinly sliced pickled beets on top. But then we got excited and ordered 2 more way too much and both were a lot more salty than the first one) Mushroom, had a lot of stuff on it that kind of detracted from the mushrooms Okra*, tempura style with pickled bittermelon Octopus*, delightful Lamb, some pieces were tender and some were a little chewy than I would have liked Adobo Ice Cream, not my fav. haha. Think Filipino adobo flavor in an ice cream, with pink peppercorn meringue pieces. The weirdest. Cocktails are fun, I personally liked the Haiku with vodka, genmaicha, and sakura blossom tastes.
I have some friends who are highly skeptical of menus with too much foodie talk. I took them to Heiho and they declared it the real deal. It was a truly delightful meal the wait staff were knowledgeable and also made the evening fun. The restaurant is chic but comfortable and I think you get good value. The style is small plate/sharing but I have never left hungry. I don 't get to Heiho as much as I would like (follow them on IG! so I have missed out when they do menu changes. I 'm excited that this menu is going to go through metamorphosis rather than a full bore change. I 'll be coming back
Adventures anyone?? Hubby and I didn't have any idea where we're going to eat dinner. He found this spot on yelp. I've seen hi ho house on Instagram and read up a little bit on their story. I am glad that we decided to give it a try. Hubby called just to see if we needed reservations he spoke to Christopher who told us to come on down there's room at the bar with a lot of space to eat and enjoy. We ended up having a very fun and interesting night. I tried drinks that I've never tried before or never would have tried there was a spicy habanero Lacore with some fire crackers and corn dipped in butter and topped off it for a cocky it was amazing it was delicious I could taste the habanero but it didn't burn my mouth like I thought it would hubby had a smoked old fashion which is fun to watch the bartender create this drink. He also had a triple flight with some strong good stuff which was delicious and over the top. The best dishes would be the special pork and they had a fish on special of course I can't remember what it is but I would say if you're looking for an adventure and you are a foodie or you love to drink and try new things this is definitely the spot for you to go out of the box I think everyone should at least try this place once and see how you like it it is very memorable. The bartender the gentleman the server everyone was very hospitable. We talked the whole time. They explained anything you had questions about. They're very passionate about their food and drinks and I can see that they put their love into the work of this place. It shows through the creativity and flavors. This would be an awesome place to take a date. Hubby and I enjoyed our date night. The ambiance was cool and collective steam punk meets Asian Fushion. It's a place for a memorable experience. Something you'll talk about long after.
Heiho doesn't miss! From the front of the house, the bar and the back, this place is service driven and everyone seems to genuinely want you to have a great time. I had a last minute guest come and they accommodated her without question. Impeccable service. (Chris at the front of the house is the Man! Now the food and drinks. I don't drink. No problem at Heiho House. Gabriel crafted me and my party the most amazing mocktails. I can't believe how much thought and effort he put into those drinks. I'm thrilled that there's actually a place where people can enjoy non-alcoholic beverages just as good as the cocktails, and from what I hear, the cocktails are fire. They change up their food theme every so often and we were lucky enough to try their menu inspired by the Philippines. Epic. The shrimp toast and Bistek are a must try. We also ordered the Pacit Canton Salad, ensalada, hamachi kama, and mushroom dish. All were extremely tasty with the pacit and collar being my faves. The ensalada had this amazing heat that isn't for the faint of heart. I wasn't a huge fan of the mushroom dish but it was presented beautifully. We ended with the braised and grilled short rib with kare kare sauce. It was literally the biggest piece of meat ever, so good. Moral of this story, go to Heiho House. Small plates and amazing cocktails. They will test your palate, so be ready.
Very innovative cocktails. The corn drink I got actually tasted like real corn with a piece of corn cob on top and everything.
