It was a Monday evening when quite a few restaurants in Honfleur were closed but we came upon the Auberge , which was open, and went in.We were welcomed and offered the choice of a couple of areas to sit and were soon sipping aperitifs ( my friend and I chose Champagne which was delicious) whilst pouring over our menus. Our starters were all excellent- Foie Gras, Crevettes and mine was a sweet and salty crumble served on top of sardines and sliced potatoes- just superb!Mains- 3x Salmon in a creamy sauce and 1 Skate in sauce and again all proved to be delicious. Finally desserts- 2 rice puddings, 1 cheese and 1 apple charlotte. A great end to a perfect meal.We booked a table for our last evening in Honfleur and again were not disappointed!!
On a corner site in the old part of Honfleur, this good quality, very good value (particularly the set menus) restaurant offers a great alternative to the often overpriced tourist places by the old port area. Very good, welcoming service. On the negative side , there is a 'musty' smell as you enter as mentioned by other reviewers which is unfortunate but that soon disappears. It's a good local restaurant which deserves patronage.
After the first evening we went another 2 times. The people were very friendly and the food was excellent. If I could I would go another time but Honfleur is a bit to fare away.
Greeted by friendly staff in a very traditional restaurant interior, musty damp smell, a different offering of regional dishes set menu 23 euros, St Veran 26 euros is the best value in Honfleur, sardine & apple gratin with a crumb topping interesting, full house on a Saturday night tells you the popularity of this restaurant 82.50 euros
