I had the pasta and it was just stunning and had a perfect balance of aromen. finish was a stocky cream caramel and the apple tarte didin were nice to see and taste adapted. a breathtaking evening and a wonderful culinary experience.
Our group of six very seasoned traveler's (four from Tasmania and two from Sydney) met up here for a meal after pre dinner drinks at the Macq 01 (where we stayed) across the road.Having just returned from a couple of months in Europe and having been spoiled with French cuisine, this was not a disappointment but at the same time not fantastic. What we loved was the mix of separate vegetable dishes to accompany the meals. We also liked the broad choice of dishes and good wine selection. What we did not like was the mark up for the local wines. As Tassie residents, we do not understand why there need to be such high margins. The 'Landscape artwork" onsite is interesting/conventional, however some of the industrial size artwork near the front desk (personally) appeal more.Staff was attentive however not able to up-sell to us for various reasons.Tasmania has a fantastic range of restaurants, including winery restaurants. This restaurant does not sit on top of the list for me.
Evening meal here. Greeting pleasant and friendly, seated quickly. Extensive drinks list. Wait staff excellent. Good selection on the menu with Tasmanian foods on offer. Menu explained well. Surroundings pleasant and original paintings on the walls. Food well presented and fresh. For special occasions.
Part of Henry Jones hotel and close to the long bar the restaurant is ideally placed on the waterfront in Hobart. Wine list, menu selection and service exceptional. Steak fantastic and as always you can't miss the Tassie oysters. Will be back.
My wife and I were heading to Hobart to slip out of the world for a few days. So glad we booked here. Happily both my wife and I appreciate good steak, as this is a great strength of the kitchen. I don't reckon this kitchen is about pushing the boundaries of culinary creativity, I think they are about using fantastic ingredients and enhancing them for the plate. That was certainly what we got from the seafood and the beef. And these guys clearly have got connections to the mother load on both. I'm not Anyhow. The staff: The sommelier was just a great guy, really demonstrated how such skills add to great dining. So sorry I didn't get your name. (I'm the guy that made the smart comment about your plantation rum pin). I tasted the Brana Poire William you recommended to my wife as a digestif and it just is just seared into my memory, but all of your advice was fantastic.Sadly, I also fail to recall the name of our waitress. She deal with all of our stupid questions with such a happy smile. (Umm... it's not roe, its tapioca...) So professional. Always there when we needed her. Not in our space we didn't. Fantastic. Clean beautifully appointed room in a contemporary style, housed in historic building. Looks like it may be hooked into a boutique hotel. Probably a nice stroll from where you're staying. Like everywhere in Hobart I suppose.OK. True. We had a blowout night. Probably not a good place to go on a tight budget. But memorable. Looking forward to coming back.
