Bidrage med feedbackVery unique and authentic Vietnamese restaurant. menu is interesting and eating is delicious. decorations are interesting and funny.
After being in Vietnam for well over a week, my search for the best Vietnamese food continues. Yes, I'm giving this establishment 4 stars, but there were places that needed improvement. Yes the decor was nice and the service was slightly above average (more unusual than you'd think). We had the pleasure of trying multiple dishes and beverages.Lets start with the highlights: the best item is surprisingly from the kids menu.... fried rie with shrimp in an omlette. actually the fried rice is enveloped in scrambled egg. Delicious... I could eat that thing over and over. The Fried fish dish was well above average and presented in a way the begged you to post it on Instagram. We had one of their appetizer combos which was very good, but didnt come with enough lettuce to wrap (not a problem for me sine I prefer not to go the traditional route of eating, but may be a problem for others). The low points were a chicken dish cooked in a clay pot. Another dish which I've had better of was the pork disk with egg. (I apologize for not knowing or looking up their true names.... late night). My last gripe.... if you come here with kids. They provided my children with crayons and papers to color on. In the middle of the meal they took away the crayons. How much are crayons?!?! They couldn't wait to take it away till our meal was over? If you have kids, you'd understand. I"d understand this from a lesser establishment, but this was a slightly more upscale joint. In summary, one of the better places I've had the pleasure of dining at in this country. Unfortunately the meal contained both high and low points. The high outnumbered the low i the food department. the lows outnumbered the highs in the service department. I can only hope it gets better.
The fact it’s on the fringe of district 1 make it a quiet relief from the heavily commercialised eateries at the heart of the city. I fell in love with rustic quiet decor shaped by worn timber doors and furniture. Walls are adorned with paintings and of course the dining room served by young pretty waitresses dressed in pastel traditional costumes. Food was marvellous and generous. We had the grilled and fried platter and the claypot pork rib. It’s more than enough for the 2 of us. The sweet waitress taught us how to “wrap da wrap.” It’s an explosion of flavours in your mouth with the different herbs and meats rolled and dipped in the sauce. The pork ribs were well done, nicely caramelised but still tender. I finished the entire plate after the madam took her share of 2 pieces. Lolz. I like the food here more than the big names at in District 1 you know who I meant . Food is meticulously cooked, generous, thoughtful and well presented. Good job, Mekong!
Authentic local/southern cuisine. Location wise, it’s not too far from the city center and tucked away in a quieter stretch ... which is nice. Food is good and the service staff ... they are good and prompt. It was a busy night (full house) and the service staff were literally running around to cope with orders but always with a smile.
Vietnamese cuisine at its medium quality compared to its price range. The staff was friendly but not so active. The food tasted too sweet. I ordered a set to start my lunch then 2 main dishes with 1 soup and 1 rice, the staff serve all at once, so by the time we finish the set, the dishes and soup went cold. The place is little bit small and the way they arranged the table is not so comfortable. I might come back here once in a while but this is definitely not my favorite.
