Bistro 17 - Hilton Head Island

I ended up staying for several hours, and I was lucky to meet a charming couple seated next to me who were open to conversation, making the experience even more enjoyable as we listened to the piano player. The owner, Thomas Justice, shared captivating stories about his family's history. I learned that his ancestor, Sergeant Alvin C. York, was a Medal of Honor recipient during World War I in 1918. (I definitely need to watch the Gary Cooper movie about his adventures.) I highly recommend visiting this wonderful local establishment. Just a heads up, they'll be closing for a few weeks in January 2024, so be sure to check their schedule before you go.

Bistro 17 has consistently ranked among our top five dining spots in Hilton Head for years. It features delightful French cuisine, an impressive selection of fine wines, and nearly impeccable service. The restaurant is quite small, so making reservations is essential. We enjoy both indoor and patio dining. For lunch, we always look forward to the French Onion soup, and although it's not on the lunch menu, the kitchen is usually accommodating and will prepare the Mussels Marinere for us. At dinner, there are several excellent options, but we've particularly enjoyed the Rack of Colorado Lamb and the generous grilled ribeye recently. Despite having faced some challenges over the years, we believe Bistro 17 has successfully regained its footing and continues to be a fantastic choice for a lunch or dinner date with your partner.

A truly authentic French experience! The live piano music adds a lovely touch. We absolutely adore this restaurant. The menu features classic French dishes, ranging from steak frites to mussels and escargot.

Another great lunch on a warm day on the patio. Open at noon with easy parking. Servicer Jem took good care of us. Simple lunch of 3 salad plate offerings 3 different tastes. Bistro 17 salad with a cup of French onion soup were both very good filling.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Bistro 17. We had the escargots, scallops, duck confit, and lamb chops. All were very delicious. Our server Kristina was fantastic. The best meal we had on HHI.
