Hugh Trumbull Cafe - Hillside

If you like frozen fish and chips which are pre-prepared my meal was on the table by the time I'd got back from ordering it at exorbitant prices then this is the place to eat when visiting the MCG. However, I'd steer...clear of the fish and chips and have some of the other meals off the limited menu my recollection from past visits is that the curry is okay. All in all a disappointing lunch-break experience.

The Hugh Trumble restaurant may not be fine dining, but it is a welcoming place with efficient service. The atmosphere is lively and designed for a quick meal rather than a leisurely sit-down experience. The bar area is also efficient, but prices are on the high side. Unfortunately, the quality of the meals was a disappointment. The Chicken Parma was dry and unimpressive, while the lamb kebabs were bland and unappetizing. In comparison to other dining options in the area, we will opt for the snack bar in the future. The main course meals do not meet the expectations of an exclusive club like the MCC.

For a quick dinner break at the ODI at the MCG, Trumbull Cafe is the perfect choice. We enjoyed a delicious meal of Parma, pot pie, fish and chips, along with a couple of bottles of MCC Shiraz. The key is to join the queue a few overs before the break, as the Cafe is quite popular. It is also wheelchair accessible.
