The Sill National Landscape Discovery Centre

After a rainy walk, we stumbled upon The Sill and were relieved to find shelter from the weather. Although they were closing soon and didn't have hot food, we enjoyed some delicious Biscoff cake and excellent coffee. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was bright and modern.

I tried the chickpea pasty with crisps and vegan coleslaw, which was delicious and clearly marked on the menu. The restaurant also offers customizable sandwich and toasty options. I also ordered the vegan brownie, which was a bit dry but still tasty. My friend enjoyed the vegan sponge cake as well. Although the staff made a mistake with my friend's order and were a bit slow, we still had a good experience overall and would recommend the restaurant. (Updated review as of August 22, 2022)

My children enjoy visiting this restaurant and sitting on the rooftop. The cafe has a nice atmosphere with outdoor seating, but there is only one option for vegans, a brownie. Unfortunately, it was a bit small and tasted less fresh because it had been refrigerated. However, they also offer pies and hummus sandwiches on the menu, which are clearly labeled.

Great stop off after having a long walk along Hadrian’s wall. The venue is light, bright and large. There is seating outside also. The staff lovely, even though they were short staffed and busy. It took a little while to be seated even though there was empty tables. The food choices were good for vegans, they had soup, a pasty, vegan cheese sandwich or toasted panini, etc. We had a cheese toasty and a pasty which were lovely and just what we needed after our walk. There is a huge car park nearby where walkers park to walk up to the wall. You have to pay but it’s at a reasonable price.

Pleasant surprise to see vegan options on the café 's lunch menu. Potato and leak soup served with bread, and Keralan cauliflower curry filled pasty. Not a lot of items on the menu but it 's a cafe not a restaurant. Friendly staff and good prices.
