When I was just a young yelper, my family brought me to vacation in New Orleans. A newly born lad, not hardly 12 months in age I was, and the family had me chasing down the birds, constructing gargoyles, ringing the hunchback bell, and eating the spiciest darn andouille sausage you could find on that side of the Mississippi. I spiked my punch with so much andouille that it earned me, not even the age of half a year yet mind you, the nickname Big Andouille. Andouille comes from the French word: Andouille, which loosely translates to, of spicy, for spicy, be spicy, I am spicy. It is such a rare delicacy that only the most talented sluggers can find such an item. In my days of big league ball, I used to munch down seventeen andouille an inning! This earned me the name The Great Bambin... oh wait, no no, this story is for another time. Oh Penelope, how have I done this again to myself! Almost giving away my true identity. Not here. Not now, Penelope. Not today. Since my retirement I haven 't been able to find a single andouille sausage. Until today. Today, as I walked across the Hershey Park swamped in chocolatey mud whilst arguing a dispute charge with the local IHOP, I smelled something so good. So delicious. So spicy. It was Andouille. It took me back to the days when I was the home run king...oh no, not again. Stop me, Penelope. I 'll be ruined! No more about my career or the curse I bared on a team for close to 90 years. When I approached the stand, I could tell this Andouille was perfection. Not only that, but they had an employee freshly shucking potatoes to make crispers. So I ordered my Andouille sandwich an a bag of Kettle Chip crispers. The Andouille came in a well toasted bun and there were some onions and peppers tossed on top. I do wish the vegetables were grilled a bit, but I won 't complain. That 's like complaining about holding the Home run record for only...no, no, stop it. Stop it, Penelope. Stop me. Anyway, the Andouille was amazing. So spicy and tasty. I wished for another, or maybe 16 more! This is the place to be. Oh so nice and smooth Andouille. NPSwizzle (aka, Big Andouille)
Waited about 15-20 minutes in line just for the old cook, who was on his phone mind you, to haphazardly throw a lukewarm andouille sausage with some dull peppers and onions on a soft bun. Served with a small serving of kettle chips that were unappealing and had no crunch to them, not one pinch of seasoning on anything whatsoever. The item with the most flavor on my order may have been the bottle of Sierra Mist. Take your money elsewhere to find good food in Hersheypark. Any dollar not given to this place is a dollar well spent.
My fiancé and I went to Hershey Park on Sunday April 4(Easter Sunday) We decided to stop off for a bite, after enjoying the park for a few hours. We had many choices of food places to choose from, and after looking over the selection of places, chose the Wurstburg Grill. With a recommendation from one of the owners, we ordered a hot dog with sauerkraut and a grilled cheese with tomato, chicken, mozzarella and pesto. Both of these entrees came with kettle chips. The prices were very reasonable for the portion size. The hot dog was all beef, fresh and juicy, and that sauerkraut tasted like it came directly from NYC. The grilled cheese had the perfect combination of fresh ingredients and was incredibly tasty. The kettle chips were light, crispy and very good as well. The food was so good that we actually forgot that we were eating at an amusement park. Typical amusement park food is greasy, over or undercooked and often times not fresh or hot. This was not the case with Wurstburg. The food was delicious! The customer service was welcoming, friendly and efficient. Customers who chose a familiar place such as Subway, Moe’s or Chik Filet, which were all around the same area, really missed out on a wonderful find. We would greatly recommend the Wurstburg Grill to other Hershey Park attendees, and you can be sure that we will make that a regular stop on future trips to Hershey Park(we are season pass holders who come all the way from the DC area) We also plan to bring other family members and friends to Hershey, and we will be sure to stop by our new favorite place The Wurstburg Grill for a bite. 5+ stars!!!!
