Mama D's Original Italian In Hermosa Beach

Once inside, we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We decided against appetizers, but we were treated to warm focaccia served with garlic-infused olive oil. Trust me, resist the urge to fill up on the bread and oil! For his meal, my husband ordered the angel hair pasta with garlic and olive oil. I chose the beef ravioli with marinara and decided to add a large meatball, which alone could be a meal by itself! I also enjoyed a glass of Moscato. We were both so full that we couldn’t finish our meals and requested doggy bags. The server packed up our leftovers, including the remaining bread, which was a nice touch—I thought that level of service had disappeared during the pandemic. Though we didn’t order dessert, we were pleasantly surprised to receive chocolate chip cookies with our check. I also purchased a bottle of garlic olive oil to take home. We definitely plan to return and hopefully bring some friends along next time. Thank you!

Wow, Mama D's! What a delightful experience filled with authentic Italian flavors and warm, family-style hospitality. Brent provided exceptional service, recommending the Gypsy Roma pasta, which was both delicious and brimming with flavor. We had a fantastic time and can't praise the level of service and attentiveness from Brent enough. He even overheard that someone in our group had a birthday coming up and generously brought out an extra drink and a shareable dessert! All of his wine recommendations were excellent as well. The ambiance was lovely, with the setting sun casting a warm glow through the window. We will definitely be returning and will keep recommending this as one of the best dining spots in the South Bay!

We started with the garlic knots, which were fantastic, and I moved on to their signature pink sauce, which was equally delightful. We were also impressed by the flexibility of their menu—sauces, mix-and-match options, and additions. The chef is versatile and skilled, and everything was cooked to perfection. Even my mom's traditional spaghetti and meatballs had a unique twist and were incredibly tasty (I couldn’t resist sneaking a bite or two when she wasn’t looking). The servers were attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about serving us. Together, they made for a memorable and enjoyable evening! Also, the freshly baked complimentary chocolate chip cookies were a delightful surprise (we took them home because the portion sizes were so generous that we couldn’t finish our entrees). If you haven’t dined here yet, you really should. They truly serve the best Italian food in the South Bay!

Excellent food and service. The pizza was delicious and the pink sauce is incredible!Get there early as it’s a cozy place with only a few tables, but the chef really knows his stuff! I will certainly return.Food: 5/5
