Azzurro - Henrico

We were quite disappointed during our 7th anniversary celebration. Our server was very sweet, which is the only reason we’re giving it 3 stars. Unfortunately, the meal itself was not good. We even had to pour our own water. The only noteworthy aspect of this place seemed to be the tablecloths.

Azzuro is definitely my favorite Italian restaurant in Richmond. Your staff is the best notch. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. It reminds me of my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC. And her food... oh, my God. It's amazing. Their fresh ingredients are in the front and middle. And their Zachetti di Pere (pear and cheese) is unforgettable. I recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an extraordinary evening.

This was the worst Italian food I've ever had. I'm not sure how it could have gone so wrong. One dish was dry and bland, while the other was overcooked and simply revolting, which resulted in a stomachache for me. For $80, I expected so much more. Absolutely disappointing.

A wide selection of average Italian dishes. The bread was disappointing. We had the Calamari that is fried was not good, Wodka Pasta was ok, and the calf Parmesan was nothing special. Tiramisu was good. Something about price especially for quality. The best aspect of our visit was the ambience. The service was okay, a lot of staff. Our waitress was on the snobby side and a bit repulsive, but all the others were thrilled. Probably not return and would not recommend.

I have to say, this was the worst meal I?ve had in a long time. Our server was very strange. I asked for one glass of wine since I did not want to share a bottle with the group, but she ignored me and poured that bottle in my glass. She also was very aloof, almost like she was drunk. The food runner was extremely rude. He slammed the food down on the table as he dropped it and was noticeably annoyed when our group was figuring out who had what. For those prices, I would expect them to know who ordered what at a 10 person table. Also, the food was HORRENDOUS. The calamari was extremely chewy and had no seasoning. I honestly have had better calamari from the freezer section at Lidl. I?m pretty sure they microwaved it, it wasn?t even crunchy. For my food, it was extremely under seasoned. Actually, i don?t think there was any seasoning. I drowned it in Parmesan just to have flavor. In addition to having no flavor, the chicken was SO DRY. My dish had cold mozzarella balls plopped on top, like it was right out of the fridge. This meal would cost $5 and but at this ?elevated dining restaurant? was $25!!! The only thing that is elevated there are the prices. I will not even eat the leftovers, it was THAT horrible. It takes a lot for me to hate a dining experience so much that I need to write a review about it. I don?t know if the chef was having an ?off? day, but I?m sad my money went to this ?fine dining? nightmare.
