The Hart Street Tavern

It was cold in the restaurant which wasn’t pleasant to eat in. We asked for the air conditioning to be turned up but it made no difference. I can’t say the food was thrilling I didn’t enjoy at all my sea bass which was very dry

Our booking was for 3 people, one of whom was celebrating her 89th birthday. The restaurant had given us the opportunity to offer this information, so we were surprised to be placed in a dark, unoccupied far end of the restaurant, only to be joined almost immediately by 4 very loud young women, celebrating a reunion and seated right next to us! Thankfully, we were moved, but our guest was surprised (as I was, being of a similar 'vintage ' to be addressed as 'my love ' by the waiter! Sherry was not among the aperitifs (the first time we 've ever come come across that and the food was interesting but without much choice. My husband left to get the car while our relative and I negotiated our way unsteadily to the exit without any helping hand to open the heavy door and step out into the night. One last thing! Why were we told so clearly when we booked that our table had a time limit on it? I kept looking at my watch but when out time was up, the waiter seems totally unconcerned. How do the diners know if there 's a time limit or not?

Great food and cocktails, brilliant friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Really enjoyable evening out.

I was disappointed by the food! I had a chicken burger and the slither of chicken was really really thin and there was too much coating on it. The chips were half cooked, the salad was a bit of iceberg salad chopped. Really uninspiring and I was hungry at the end. The waitress and staff were welcoming and very helpful. Would not go there again.

Fantastic food, presented beautifully. Lovely atmosphere and wonderful staff. Would definitely recommend!
