We knew there would be a long wait for the Oktoberfest, but it was really not bad. There were six in our party and once we set ourselves, we ordered two pretzels. They were served super fast and they were delicious! Dinner was served faster than I thought it was because it was Oktoberfest. We had a wonderful meal and the service was great. The German potatoes were not good. I asked what they were and was told they had vinegar and bacon in the. She said they were really good. They tasted like tasteless instantmaic potatoes. That means everything else was delicious. My sister ordered the reubs and asked us if they could have pommes instead of mixing because they can't have vinegar. We enjoyed our meal and would go back. Just don't order the potatoes. When we came home, we looked at the bill and she accused us of the Pommes.
Sneak down beneath the bridge for a delicious meal with an awesome view in Helen! Had a great Saturday dinner on their patio overlooking the river. If you?ve ever been tubing in Helen and got yourself stuck on the rocks as you float through town and had to (embarrassingly) get out of your tube and show your rear to all the people dining and drinking right there by the riverfront, THIS is the restaurant they are all eating at. Get yourself a riverside seat at Troll Tavern and YOU can be the lucky person on land giggling at the unfortunate beached tubers!! Ok, other than the giggling, our server was super sweet, they have a great selection of beers and fun local cocktails and I loved my German sausage platter!! I tried both kinds of sausage, and loved the German potato salad (basically mashed potatoes) with sour slaw. It was all awesome and tons of food. I was seriously stuffed. The burgers were big and juicy too. The meal took a while to come out, so I wouldn?t recommend going to this restaurant if you?re in a hurry. But, what?s the rush when the drinks are flowing and the view is lovely (and, at times, hilarious)? It was a great time to just hang out with our family and enjoy the evening by the riverfront. Will definitely return on our next Helen visit.
When in a German themed village you must get some German food and beer. We decided on the Troll Tavern since it?s against the river and a hot spot in Helen. The service was definitely still short staffed and a little slow. We had a small hiccup in the beginning but after that it was smooth sailing. They have a decent selection of beer local and German. As for the food it was pretty delicious!!!! The bratwurst platter was pretty good with kraut, red cabbage, rye bread and German potato salad. My wife got the Reuben sandwich it was crispy and cook just right!! I decided on the glass boot souvenir mug which was about $32 with the beer and filling. The only complaint I will say and the reason I didn?t give them a higher rating is because of the decor and quality of the restaurant. This place needs some TLC and renovations especially with it being a big tourist location. Definitely check them out for the views and a drink!
We had a wonderful time at the Troll Tavern. The river view was beautiful. Our server was Amazing. We were sitting on the deck and our server allowed us to switch tables to get a better view of the river. She made sure we had our drinks topped off and brought our food out in a timely manner. The food was delicious. Thank you for a wonderful time.
Lunchtime New Years Day 2022. Good crowd but plenty of outdoor seating by the river under the bridge. Saw a troll we are pretty sure. Food was excellent, Billy Goat burger phenomenal, wife had chicken salad salad said it was awesome. Staff was really fun and was having a good time with 90?s rap playing in background. Fun for the family, check it out if you get a chance.
