In the past, zazu has served the best blt sandwiches here I've ever had. I was disappointed when it didn't come back. I learned last week that they are back for a short time. serve their famous sandwiches until the tomatoes run out. together with their infamous speck in a pumpkin core crust slightly acid brot roasted. if they like a good one, they won't go as fast as possible. They're just $12, and it'll fill them. heck a fast eating will be a $10 bill. so, that's a lot. the tomato from mid august to beginning oktober are the best taste. can't wait to come back.
Formerly known as Bovolo in the Copperfields bookstore on the square, Zazu On The River has now relocated to share a space with Davis Family Vineyards on Front Street. Touted as Sonoma County's first Pork Shack by the renowned duo John Stewart and Duskie Estes, Zazu On The River continues to provide the same welcoming service and incredible food that patrons have come to love. This restaurant truly embodies the farm-to-table concept, with some of the produce sourced from right next to the shack. When I requested cucumber instead of tomatoes for my BLT, they promptly picked a fresh cucumber on the spot. The location features outdoor seating right alongside the Russian River. Before ordering, I popped into the Davis Family Vineyards tasting room and asked, "What pairs well with bacon?" The answer? "Anything goes well with Black Pig Bacon!" They are open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM.
I had brunch there, and it was delicious! I started with the Mary, made with fresh tomato juice—an experience like no other. It was amazing, especially with the infamous speck, pickled soot, and olive garnish. I didn't think it could get any better until my arugula, asparagus, and feta salad arrived, topped with an egg. Absolutely delicious! It was a fantastic experience overall.
We just enjoyed an incredible lunch at Zazu at the Davis Family Winery in Healdsburg, situated in a beautiful organic garden right by the Russian River. We had the black pig bacon and heirloom tomato BLT, and it was absolutely spectacular! I love BLTs, and this was by far the best I've ever had. We also tried the pie, and it was out of this world—so delicious it melted in your mouth! You absolutely have to go!
