Seafood stir fry ordered by husband was full of scallops and succulent prawns. A firm favourite. Had the Indonesian Fried Rice today and it was awesome, full of fat prawns and fantastic flavours.
Ma's Kitchen in Chinatown's Sussex Centre Food Court is the joint we hit when we get the itch for some really good and shiny Chinese stir fry. We reckon it's the Malaysian/Indo influence in the cooking that gives it the extra oomph. These guys are old pros quick and businesslike the guy at the counter even smiles sometimes. The servings are generous and value plus. We intended to eat our way through every dish on the menu that struck our fancy but at eight visits we are still only halfway there, so this post is like a halftime break. We've written up Ma's Kitchen before before, but we're doing it again because some of the grand old dames of the food courts have retired lately, we celebrating these joints while we can.
My partner and I have been coming to this food court for 10 years. Ma's Kitchen is the best Chinese food in Haymarket bar none! I can't believe the other reviews I have read! Always provide us with two plates. Clean, beautiful food. After maybe 100 visits, never a problem. Simply the best!
We had generous portions and very tasty meals. The only problem was that they were quite salty which wasn't a problem at first but by the end of the meal, due to the cumulative effect, the saltiness was getting overpowering.
Great experience to eat here. the owner has fluffed with a customer and that served me was terrible. will not come back. chef is next door and much better!
