Bidrage med feedbackFood is very good, but service terrible. Have eaten twice there and had to wait over hour to get our meal. Not family-friendly with small children.
As an ex-employee and frequent consumer of the pizza, I can assure you its the best Italian restaurant in Hawthorne. Every pizza is made with Italian pride and every dish from the kitchen is handled with care.
You've never had Italian until you've had Puzo's! When visiting family in NJ this is a must do on the itinerary. The owners make you feel like family while servers are prompt and helpful when not sure what to order. If you're not interested in dining in for the evening or maybe just craving some pizza, place a take away order and enjoy. My fav is the gnocchi with meat sauce. It's the perfect portion to make you feel full without the food coma. Whether it's date night or a family dinner order a bottle of wine and take your time. Enjoy the savory dishes and comfort of the like home feel of the restaurant and food. There may be other patrons experiencing the joy of Puzo's but it doesn't have that crowded restaurant feel, the tables are situated so that you are able to focus on your party solely.
What happened?! This has been a part of my life for years, I loved their salad, pizza and they make a great pasta with veggies and the bread that came with it was always delicious. I'm so disappointed because I love this place but last night was beyond awful. We walked in and there was a full fledged argument going on between the staff to the point that one person actually put his hands on someone else. People just kept walking past us as we were watching this stunned and finally someone said, did you need to order and we just said we want to get our food and go.. We got it home and where beyond disappointed. The salad was great as always their dressing is the best but the rest was inedible. The mussels tasted like cardboard odd flavor and the sauce was completely off. The pizza was honestly the worst I ever tried to eat. It was not cooked at all , big fought mess covered in way too much cheaper cheese and canned olives. We couldn't eat it, I actually gave it to the squirrels and raccoons. I was just there a month ago and it was good so I don't know what has happened. I really love this place and usually they know you the minute you walk in. I hope they get back to being the great place they were for so many years.
Puzo's is the greatest, and a warm fuzzy memory from my time living in the Garden State. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, and the pizza is to die for. It's the kind of place where you pick up take out entrees for the family and then order a slice of their perfectly crafted pizza to scarf down in the car on your way home!
