Black Horse Cafe Bistro - Hawick

What an absolute treat to discover this charming restaurant today. It’s been under new ownership for only eight weeks and a lovely place has been created; the decor is excellent and creates an authentic atmosphere. I had the special which was chicken masala today. Home-made by Mrs. Owner, it was delicious. I chatted with both of the owners; lovely people who deserve their new restaurant/bistro/café to be a good success. Thank you both for my lunch.

Visited the reopened Blackhorse cafe on 01/07/23. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and competitive prices. I had their special burger and chips. Excellent home made burger and proper chips. Delicious. I understand that in recent days they've had supply issues with food, and rhus have had to reduce the menu. I think the sudden popularity of the place has caught them off guard. Don't let this distract you from how good it is. I'm sure they'll resolve the issue sooner than later. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Support local business as good places to eat are few and far between.

Quickly seated as it had an other couple. Went to the counter ordered pot of tea for two and two scones. One cup of stewed tea arrived when the waiter guessed something was wrong with one cup of tea with two people the penny dropped. The other cup arrived 5 mins later no scones. The problem was communication as only one of the three staff spoke English. Listening to the other couple they didn’t get what they ordered either. We didn’t bother waiting for the scones give up and left.
