Phoenician - Haverhill

I recently visited the Phoenician Restaurant for the first time. I used to go to Bischof in Lawrence, MA with my family, so I was excited to hear that some of the chefs from the old Bischof have opened the Phoenician. The food was just as excellent as it was at Bischof!

I had a fantastic Mediterranean dish for two, featuring baked lobster that was excellent. I found it so good that I could only finish half, and I usually have a good appetite! I also enjoyed the appetizer combo plate, which was a perfect addition. There were plenty of leftovers, which was just fine with me!

I attended a function here and was quite pleased with my experience. The food was delicious, and the portion sizes were generous. The fries on the table were absolutely amazing! I definitely want to return for lunch or dinner to try out the regular menu. The staff was very friendly. There was a slight miscommunication regarding the start time of the event, but they were accommodating and allowed us to wait.

My wife and I are big fans of hearty salads, and we've been on the lookout for the best options in our area. Today, we decided to try the Phoenician. Along with our salads, we ordered grape leaves and hummus, both of which were excellent. Unfortunately, we found the salads disappointing. It was surprising given that they cost $26 each if you added chicken. The $13 for seven small pieces of chicken felt excessive, coming to over $1 each! While the ingredients were fresh, the traditional flavors just weren't there. We had to add our own sauce to boost the taste. Our search for the perfect salad continues...

The food was very good and the service was exemplary. Four of us enjoyed dinner. The portions were very generous - large enough to be at noon tomorrow. Despite a full restaurant, the server was very friendly and attentive. Will certainly make The Phoenician part of our plans when we visit the area.
