Bidrage med feedbackMy wife often dines with friends at this restaurant and always praises the food, but I have avoided going because of the limited beer selection. However, we decided to book a table for my birthday and were pleasantly surprised to find a better variety of beers, including some from Longman. I ordered the rump steak cooked on a hot stone, while my wife opted for the sirloin. The quality of the steaks was exceptional for the price, arguably the best I've had in a long time. Although the atmosphere was quiet, the lack of table service for drinks was noticeable and resulted in missed sales opportunities. Despite this, we had a very enjoyable evening and will definitely be returning now that they offer a more diverse selection of beers.
After we finished our meal, no one came to clear our table or ask if we wanted dessert or coffee. When we got up to leave, someone finally came to clear the table, but didn't interrupt her conversation with other staff members at the bar. In the past, Porters used to be a popular dining spot with a good atmosphere on weekends. However, the current level of service has greatly declined, negatively impacting the overall atmosphere. It is no surprise that the restaurant is no longer as busy as it once was.
We spent a few days in Hastings for new year and had had this wine bar recommended to us and had booked for NyE dinner at 20:00 about 2 months in advance so we had plans for NYE. We had a phone call on 30th December to say the kitchen was now going to close at 20:00 when our table was booked for and needed to be there at 19:00. Ok we thought things happen but we will still be out and make the most of it. 31st December at 16:30 they called again and cancelled our booking completely as head chef had gone home, so now nowhere to go on NYE and to be honest it felt like they had always intended to close NyE. My advice would be don’t bother even if it is supposed to be quite nice as unreliable

Gone downhill badly! Went with friends for a Xmas meal. We are all in our 50s and not a drunk group of idiots. So when it came to the bill we soon realised we had been overcharged by £150!!!! It took a lot of questions to staff to get this rectified. Poor service, food ok. After years of going to Porters I have to say I won't bother again. George, you need to sort your staff out!
