The At Newby Hall - Harrogate

A clean restaurant with lots of room inside and out. Pleasant young staff. We had a mixture of sandwiches and quiche and salad. All were good portions and fresh. No problems, will go again I’m sure.

We had strawberry frangipane tart with our coffee and it was the nicest dessert we have had in a long time.

Our visit to the cafe (advertised as a restaurant) was disappointing. We both ordered homemade salad and quiche. While the quiche was excellent, we were disappointed with the salad, which only consisted of coleslaw and bagged salad leaves. It lacked tomatoes and cucumbers, making it more like a garnish than a proper salad. We ended up ordering cake to satisfy our hunger, but my chocolate cake was too dry to finish. Overall, the experience was full of silly mistakes and a letdown.

This cafe is a decent size with plenty of seating both inside and outside, some of which is covered. The views are nice and there are restrooms nearby. It is conveniently located just a short distance from the Dolls House display. We had a pleasant experience enjoying our cake and coffee.

I was hoping for some improvements with the easing of lockdown restrictions but was disappointed to find that the restaurant still had a one-way system in place. The scones were tasty but a bit pricey. They were still using plastic cutlery and paper plates, and only served tea in a paper cup.
