Tried to get into Betty’s but people were queuing to get in, so we went to the M+S cafe in Harrogate Town Centre instead. So glad we did as my wife and I really enjoyed it (so much so that we’ll not go to Betty’s again while ever this place is here to be honest; it’s such good value). I had tomato and basil soup and it was superb; I’ve had it in 5 star restaurants and it’s not been as good. I then had a fish finger sandwich and that was excellent too, on lovely white bread. A couple of sachets of their own brand ketchup just finished it off nicely. My wife had a jacket potato with tuna and mayonnaise, served with a lovely dressed side salad, and she said she really enjoyed it. It was a proper oven baked potato with loads of filling. The tables are well spaced out so we felt safe. The staff are really friendly and keep a good distance. The chap that served me was called Daniel and he couldn’t have been more helpful, as we had not been before so we were not too sure of the setup. As people left the cafe, the staff were thoroughly sanitising the tables AND chairs before the next customers went to them. Whoever is in charge of this place can be really proud of themselves as it is spot on; I wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you; we’ll definitely be back the next time we are on holiday.
Very disappointed with service today. There was a very friendly young girl with brown hair who helped me chose a cake and was great with her recommendations! however, there was an older woman on the till with dark hair who was very impatient with my 87 year old grandmother. She had an awful attitude and was so unfriendly and kept going too fast for my grandma (who is slightly deaf and can get confused when rushed). It was very obvious that my grandma needed extra time and care when being served however that just wasn’t given and I left feeeling very upset with how staff handled a very simple situation. Working both in care and in hospitality it is not hard to cater to a customers specific needs. Moreover, she was exchanging glances with a man who was also working there.
After 30 years of being a customer had an awful lunch . And this was there reply . Marks and Spencer not the shop it use to be . I had told them what i had ordered in my last email . However after five days still no reply . Until i received this response today . Thank you for your email, sorry for the long wait for a reply, your last email did not come through to us correctly. Without the receipt we are unable to issue a refund as we do not have the amounts paid and the codes of each items that you purchased.
The large cafe it used to be is now half the size, which is fine. But I was disgusted to see that everything is given using throw away items no real cups or plates or knives etc any more. What happened to use re use idea rather using chucking for the sake of our environment ?
