Bidrage med feedbackMy daughter and I hosted a bridal shower there this past Saturday. Corina, the owner made it so easy. Everything was perfect. We didn't have a chance to play our party games, we were having too much fun with the hats and visiting. If you want a fun place to have a get together with your friends, in Harlingen, I recommend it!
It seemed like a nice establishment, I was really looking forward to dining in you place of business. I discovered you place through facebook and I told my family i would like to try your place, since I'm from out of town. You were very rude to us, never tended to us and we had to eventually walk out, needless to say I was very disappointed and i will never step place in your establishment again. from the reviews and photos I have seen here, you seem like a nice person, I guess we got you on a bad day but that was enough for me.
I had lunch with my sister in law Janie Morales, had an amazing strawberry chicken salad sandwich, English potato salad, fruit and salad, veggie chips and pickle spear with tomato parmesean soup. I had the peach tea and homemade peach cobbler. Corina is such a lovely person. The tearoom is so welcoming and beautiful. Excellent establishment, feels like grandma's home full of love and many treasures. Thank you, Corina.
If you like your coffee and tea water out of the bathroom sink... Owner, hostess, waitress stated sink in kitchen was not in working order so the would make do with what she had. Dishes were also around bathroom sink cabinet, why I know this I asked if I could use the ladies room before we ordered lunch. Needless to say my two girlfriends and I did not stay for lunch. Say NO to Bathroom sink water. We decided it go to the tea room on Jackson St. , much cleaner, roomier, bathroom away from kitchen, great food and desserts....
I appreciate that someone had the forethought to open up an eatery that is NOT Mexican or Chinese. That said, I think that the Pumpernickel Tea Room has a long way to go before it can consider itself a true 'eatery '. Does a room full of outdated tchotchkes make a tea room? In Harlingen, I suppose so. I give the cook credit for trying to do something different but the fare is unimpressive at best underwhelming at its worse. Paying over $7.00 for 1 egg, 1 blonde, bland pancake 1/2 of a strawberry with 1/16 of a tangerine plus watered down coffee is a bit too pricey for me. I think my money would be better spent at other downtown Harlingen eateries like Java Cafe. Oh, and with the owner playing host, waitress, cook, go alone or in parties no bigger than two as your order arrives staggered by at least 5 minutes between plates. Best of luck to the Pumpernickel, but you have to step up your game just a bit. I hope things improve by the time I return.
