Vernales - Harbor Springs

We have ate here in the past (3+ years), but our latest trip was definitely not as enjoyable. Food was nothing exciting. Calamari was rubbery and breading was just ok. Tortellini was good, but not amazing for almost $30. Be careful with theadd-on 's. We thought that a side add-on of lobster mac n cheese was $12, but it is actually the regular mac n cheese price$11.85 PLUS the add $12 for upgrade...so $24 for a tiny ramekin serving with a few bits of lobster! After arguing with theserver, the manager took it off the bill, which was the right thing to do. We really appreciated that. My question is why notjust advertise a side of lobster mac n cheese for $24 instead of doing the add marketing trick? Service was slow, as ourserver kept hanging out at the hostess desk. We had to ask a different server for some things because ours was nowhere to befound. They definitely have plenty of room for improvement.

A new favorite! we are retired foods that visit the north of the lower half island of michigan every year to see the beautiful autumn leaves and to visit excellent restaurants. we discovered vernales on our stay in harbor springs. we thought we had a late lunch and we were so glad we did. fantastic food and great service. I had penne pasta in a garlic parmesan sauce with black sirloin tips and my wife enjoyed a lobster dick. our server, jerry, was excellent and eating excellent. we liked it so much that we have booked a table for the following Saturday evening. I had the omg burger. half a pound wagyu steak with green olive oil mayonnaise, Swiss cheese, speck and incredible waffelfries and my wife had the muscles she loved. jerry was again our server and is the man. we will add this to our list of “must do” restaurants and return every year. delicious! ask for jerry!

What a great experience! a beautiful, romantic evening place for our first jubilee and I would not have asked for anything anymore. eating was absolutely phenomenal, and all the staff made the night so unforgettable. I will recommend this place to everyone!

Enjoyed Vernales for a birthday dinner. Just minutes outside of Petoskey in Harbor Springs, this was a delicious choice. I tried the New York Strip, excellent. She had the Sea Bass, excellent. Grady took great care of us. Definitely recommend a visit when you're in the area.

Everything about our anniversary dining experience here was stellar. The shrimp penne Alfredo was hot and done to perfection, the salad fresh and varied, the bread hot and delicious. Our waitress was very professional and attentive. A perfect meal!
