Shirley's - Hampton

The homemade food here is truly excellent. However, it is a bit pricier than it used to be a few years ago when it felt more like a genuine local dining spot. The owner's son has taken over the management, but Sherly, the heart and soul of the restaurant, really makes you feel at home! Unfortunately, it has lost some of its family charm. The parking lot can get quite crowded, reminiscent of a WalMart at times, with cars from North Carolina and elsewhere circling around. If you enjoy generous portions and delicious cooking, be sure to bring your credit card and visit us in the neighborhood!

This restaurant is the best in the area! The food is prepared fresh every day. You can enjoy a family-style meal featuring various meats like fried chicken breast (boneless), country ham, or roast beef, alongside a selection of vegetables that are served in bowls and can be refilled upon request. I’m keeping track of what I eat, as the portions are generous and it’s hard to resist overindulging. Each plate comes with a choice of meat, three vegetables, rolls or cornbread, and a drink. The servings are substantial, making it easy to eat a lot without worrying about gaining weight. The service is excellent, and the prices are very reasonable. On weekends, they occasionally host live music from local bands, which adds to the enjoyable atmosphere. This is a fantastic spot for a family outing, with friendly service all around!
