Lakeside Tavern - Hammondsport

As a local and an employee that has worked in the industry for over 20 years, my family and I have never been more disappointed with what happened at Lakeside last Thursday. We ordered the fish tacos and a cheeseburger. Let me first start with my wife’s meal, the fish tacos. The menu specifically stated that the fish tacos were haddock. What did my wife get? Shrimp tacos. Now here is the most upsetting part. The food runner came out and stated “shrimp tacos?” While the server loudly said “fish tacos!” Meaning, she knew that the order was wrong and did nothing to fix it! At first glance, the tacos had so many toppings my wife could not see that there was shrimp, not haddock in her tacos. She took a bite and instantly knew something was off. What if my wife was allergic to shellfish? She also dislikes shrimp. She did not eat it and just let the server take the meal. No apology from our server. Now let’s discuss my meal. When ordering my cheeseburger I asked for no tomato. The server stated “it will come on it so just take it off.” In industry words, this means she cannot ask the cook (or chef) for modifications to meals. This is unacceptable for any restaurant. The burger was a frozen Sysco patty, completely flavorless. We will not come back and will not recommend at the establishments we work at for the tourists that ask where they should go to eat on Keuka Lake.

Nice place to sit outside on the deck on the lake, especially on a beautiful day like we had. A fair selection of food that is prepared and presented very well. And the service is good even if they get busy. Staff is friendly and helpful. We'll be going back.

Great location lots of spots to sit and chill on the water

Can't get a better view, server was nice enough but inexperienced and it doesn't seem that they have any sort of uniform, so it looked like we were being served by another guest. They were also out of a few different things. Food was not the best, it wasn't necessarily bad, but looked and tasted more like diner food that was a tad overpriced. Will be back to try again, no real complaints other than what I have stated.
