This place frequently gets mislabeled as a “bar” despite no alcohol consumption occurring on premises. The reason for the jugs fame is due to their “jug dogs” the best hot dog in Upstate New York, probably. Handmade every morning by the owner, John, the jug dogs are an exquisite piece of modern American cuisine. I wish jug dogs were more affordable though.

The old stone jug... Hmm what can I say about the jug. There are really two schools of thought when it comes to it. On one hand there are those who avoid the jug at all cost and discuss its problematic nature. I find this rather misleading. I mean, how can one judge the merits of an establishment without actually going there? The second school of thought is one that attends the jug and unwittingly discovers the quirks and charm of a local landmark. Finally, I would like to praise those who frequent the jug. To you all, I tip my hat indeed. You are the life-blood of an icon. May your work never come to an end.

If I could I’d give this bar zero stars. My friends and I were out of town and they wouldn’t let us in because we were not current Colgate students and we graduated 2 years ago. They didn’t turn us away respectfully either, we were forced out of the line. Avoid bar at all costs if not a current student. Tons of underages probably should get busted soon.
