Bidrage med feedbackLast night ordered to leave The chicken was amazing, the skin crispy and chicken nicely cooked. The spicy sauce was perfectly matched to taste and heat. The potato balls were 90% perfect potato chips (thin sliced potatoes) were slightly boiled The rice was... fascinating and perfect. Portion sizes were decent and overall a good meal. While waiting for the food, I sat in the restaurant, friendly and clean.
This small restaurant seems to be very popular with locals, and we decided to try another Portuguese restaurant in Hamilton as our favourite. This was perhaps the slowest cuisine and the most inconspicuous service we have experienced in a very long time. We sat pretty fast, and after 20 minutes our order was taken. Then we waited about 30 minutes for the delivery of bread and olives. 50 minutes after our order, I caught the waiter's eye, and he assured me that the meal will come soon. Then he brought our salad, but no bowls or plates) and the Calamari we ordered as an appetizer. That was really pretty good, but the Calamari was on the chewing side. Despite the assurance that our meals will come soon, we waited another 35 minutes before they arrived, it was a total of an hour and 55 minutes from the time when we came to the restaurant to the time our entrees were served). To say the ducks would be awfully too friendly. I ordered fried bacalhau salt meadow) a great favorite of me when we were in Portugal. But that was by far the most salty meal I've ever eaten. I doubt that they salt the cod in more than one change of water... unbearable as in 2-3 big bags of chips. I expect bacalhau to be a little salty, I ate a lot of it in Portugal and it's totally charming, but that was cruel. My son had the special thing that day, Pork Chops, and they looked out and cut as if they had put in the oven many hours before. It was a real effort to cut and chew them. He was too kind to complain, but I could see that he was disappointed. My wife had fried sole, which we were insured, were simply dipped into a beaten egg and dipped in flour. I can't imagine how they got a uniform pretty dark gray than golden. My wife peeled the coating and ate some of the fish. We all quickly lost our appetite. To be as fair as possible, about the only things that were not terrible, the salad was uninspired white vinegar dressing with little oil, large pieces of salad the size of a half envelope), the Calamari and the potatoes like thick potato chips) were actually quite beautiful. I guess the cook has long lost no interest in cooking, as the quality of the offers we tried were not only infallible, they were seriously inconspicuous. To be fair, perhaps the other males enjoyed what they had, but after eating some of these salty bacalhau, my blood pressure went so high I could hear a fizzing/pounding sound in my ears and I have no blood pressure problem). It was ridiculously expensive for this type of quality $90 after tax and tip, one of us had a beer ro alcohol cost was not a factor). When we got our food, the restaurant was to close within 20 minutes for the evening, so there would be no value to send the food back, they had no more nearly 2 hours, but I'm sorry this place will never get another dimm from me again.
I love Portuguese cuisine and googled for restaurants in Hamilton area. Cantinho came so we chose this place. We drove to Barton and hardly missed the sign for Cantinho. I believe in the saying: “If you want good food, go where the locals go.” Well, this restaurant had many Portuguese diners, so I was confident that I chose well. We ordered the whole chicken salad and rice. And when our mission was served, my eyes fell out. The chicken and potato and rice flooded. And the salad was huge!!! I thought this meal was way too much for two people, but I was wrong. The food was so good that we messed up everything. And to boot, the owners seemed friendly. In any case, this is worth a restaurant that keeps eating. I want to try everything they have on the menu.
Have eaten here and probably got 5 stars. But the last few times weren't good. Today was the worst. I ordered the 1/4 chicken dinner and my mother ordered the case of the sole. My chicken breast was literally skin and bone, more meat on the tiny wing. The fillet of the sole was soggy and fat softened. Not even sure it was alone. My mom couldn't eat it. It used to be really good. Not so much. We got no bread, unlike all the others at the café. They don't serve tea.
My husband and our kids visit this restaurant as much as we can. The food is amazing. We always order the chicken, salad, rice, fries, fish and of course the delicious bread. The staff are always so nice when we are there. You will not...be disappointed. You will come hungry and leave full!
