Golden Chopsticks - Hamden

Golden Chopstick is my normal go-to for Chinese food when I want delivery. They are always very fast and very friendly. Their prices are very good as well, at or below average for Chinese delivery. One if my favorite items on the menu is the steamed bbq pork buns. Delicious. Their soups are always hot and the wonton egg drop soup is generously portion with wontons. I dont know how they do it but their fried wontons are both crispy and chewy at the same time. I LOVE them this way and have yet to find another restaurant that can duplicate it. Their egg rolls are exactly the same, I always order extra. Their combo plates are always packed with food and on larger orders they sometimes included drinks no charge. Ive yet to have an order that was ordered incorrect. They are always accurate, fast, friendly, and reasonably priced.

I've lived in this town for over 30 years. Once you a time this place was THE premier place in town for Chinese food. The original owner was sadly taken from us in a terrible car accident. The place has remained. I've ordered it come in here quite infrequently because the bar has a regular crowd of drunks, which is probably how the place stays in business. I came in tonight looking for a quick meal, as I wasn't in the mood to cook. I started off with a hot and sour soup that was so bad I sent it back. The main dish, General Cho's chicken was good. Once the meal was served, no one came by to ask how everything was or see if I needed anything. I sat waiting for 15 minutes after I was done. Finally someone came by with the check. I asked for a container for the leftovers and mentioned that I had a restaurant.com coupon. The server left the check and I waited another 10 minutes for someone else to process the coupon. She left and came back 10 minutes later. The staff clearly does not care about the restaurant. I noticed it only had a B rating from the health department. It's sad. This used to be a place where families gathered for a dinner out. Now, the largest population is in the bar. I definitely will NOT be back again.

As one said below its below average Americanized Chinese food. I ordered: Shumai and it was some of the worst I've ever had tasted like it was stuffed with canned alpo. Chicken wings lacked meat Waitress was very blah and scuffed her feet all through the restaurant which I found hugely annoying. General Tso had no heat Shrimp with mixed veggies no flavor Never going back and praying like another that I don't get sick from the little bit I ate

Another C rating, c 'mon Golden Chopsticks, get your act together! Need to find a Chinese restaurant with consistent A ratings in Hamden. Anyone??

Used to be the old China Lantern. This place wins for having the fastest delivery of any place around. Granted we live right up the hill behind it. My boyfriend and I joke that as soon as he hangs up the phone from ordering they are probably already in the car and on their way to us, lol! They have these lettuce wraps that are unique and not typically on a Chinese takeout menu, but they are delicious. My boyfriend is a big fan of their chicken and broccoli. Keep up the great work!!
