Bayhorse Pub - Hambleton

Went here for an anniversary lunch, all seemed fine had the parmo and the chicken curry. We both thought the food was average. The chips looked and tasted like they had been reheated. Fast forward 90 minutes and we both had bad tummy's and the only place we had eaten was here. Not a pleasant anniversary experience. We won't be back

With regard to the unreasonable and unfair review left today by Peter D (who was seated on the next table to us , we would like to say that Peter D was a difficult customer who appeared determined to find fault. My partner and I love The Bay Horse. It is wonderful in every respect. The food is gorgeous, the staff are really lovely and super accommodating. The establishment is really cosy and homely and in an excellent location with ample parking. Every visit has been a joy. Today we were seated at our table and were immediately interrupted by Peter D and his elderly Father on the next table to us. They complained that we had been seated at the table that they wanted. They continued complaining to us until we offered to swap tables with them. They refused this offer yet still continued to complain. Peter D then asked for the manageress to be brought to his table and he was rude and insulting to her. In response the manageress was really polite and charming. We were taken aback by the attitude of Peter D, bearing in mind that all he seemed to want was our table (which we had already offered to him! . The owner approached Peter D and asked him to refrain from being rude to his staff. He handled the matter very nicely and professionally and was polite and accommodating, even offering Peter D the opportunity to accept his drinks on the house if he preferred to leave rather than wait for the food that he had ordered. We had a lovely meal, as always, and thoroughly enjoyed the fantastic fayre from the talented chef. The ladies who waited on us were really friendly and attentive and provided excellent service. We were slightly distracted by Peter D, who continued to chunter in a really unpleasant manner and we were able to hear him discussing his plans with his Father to leave unfair and negative reviews about this fabulous venue. Many thanks to The Bay Horse for being amazing and fabulous.

This place has really deteriorated in quality and service. Fish and chips and the batter was an inch thick from multiple refries. Some of the staff really try but the owner and manager are incredibly rude. I wouldn’t go to this place again which is a shame as we used to be regulars. There are far more better value places around with better food.

Been twice recently and both times were really good. We ordered a variety of food the first time. Sunday lunch and other mains. All good. Lovely hot plates and food. This Sunday we both ordered a Sunday lunch and again lovely hot plates and food. Really enjoyed the main courses and desserts. Lovely staff. Really helpful.

Outstanding Sunday lunch. Best in area. Very impressed. Unfortunately spoilt by crying children whose parents had no control which spoilt the occasion. The staff were aware but did nothing to advice the parents of the behaviour was affecting the other diners.
