Bidrage med feedbackOne of the real local gems, this place serves amazing brisket and ribs, but my personal favorite is the smoked pork steak. The owner truly knows how to treat the meat with respect! You have to try their smoked dried mini links; they’re some of the best I’ve ever tasted! It’s no surprise they made Texas Monthly's list of the top 50!
They're only open on Fridays and Saturdays until 2 PM, so plan your visit accordingly! This place made the top 50 BBQ joints in Texas, and for good reason—the barbecue is fantastic, set in an old meat market atmosphere. I’ve been enjoying their food since I was a kid. Everything is smoked right out back, and they serve great brisket, local sausage, pork steaks, chicken, ribs, and more. It’s a pity they no longer offer smoked mutton; it was the only place I’ve ever found it, and it was absolutely heavenly! The owner mentioned he has a hard time sourcing mutton from his supplier, which is a real disappointment. The meats are outstanding, and the sides are tasty as well, so I highly recommend checking it out! Just be aware of their limited hours, as they’re only open for a few hours a couple of days a week. Also, make sure to use the restroom somewhere else before or after, since their facilities are located out back and are, shall we say, rather rustic—definitely a step up from a porta-potty!
The staff at this restaurant are really nice and friendly, but unfortunately, the BBQ leaves much to be desired. The meat is quite dry, as is the bread. The portions are incredibly small and very overpriced; I paid $9 for just a teaspoon of chopped beef, and they piled on pickles and onions instead of giving more meat. If I'm spending that much, I expect to get more substance! They only offer one type of chips as a side and even have the audacity to charge $0.75 for an extra shot glass of sauce to accompany their dry food. I can't help but feel that all the positive reviews must be from close friends and family. I'm just being honest here.
