Bidrage med feedbackWent here on a Sunday hoping to try hot pot. We were seated at a half cleaned table when clean tables were available. It was a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. The customers who came in after us got our menus and table cleaned. We eventually had menus dropped off and that was the last service we received. I won't give the review a 1 star because maybe it was just a bad server and the food could have been something as the menu looked good. Unfortunately we will never know because we walked out after not getting service for a very long time.
If you want an authentic Chinese Hot Pot meal, this is the place to go in Halifax. The ingredients are fresh and the food tastes wonderful. This is not only a great meal, it is also a great experience. Enjoy!
We were in Halifax to visit our grandson and asked him where he wanted to go for dinner and he came up with this oddly named, unassuming little Chinese restaurant. Chinese is not our favourite cuisine, se we were a little apprehensive. However, unlike the more familiar Chinese restaurant fare of sweet and sour chicken balls and ginger beef etc, this place specializes in providing large pots of broth and then you get to select a range of noodles, meats and veggies to cook in the pot at your table. We had a pot which was divided into two sections so we could have a very spicy broth and a less spicy one too. This allowed us to enjoy exactly the degree of spiciness we wanted. The waitress was extremely helpful and friendly and we selected beef, pork, mushrooms, noodles and veggies with our broth. It was extremely tasty and we had fun mixing and cooking the ingredients. The portions were huge and after we were all finished and full, he still had two plastic containers left over to take back to his student digs. Overall an excellent evening!
I go to this place a lot, maybe more in the winter when their hot pot is so amazing in warming you up but this place is incredible! It's a simple atmosphere but it adds to the authentic environment and the dumplings are insanely delicious.
A group of friends thought that it would be fun to go here for dinner. Our first problem was that the restaurant had changed location but had left the sign behind. We looked & looked for the entry door- which, of course, was not there. We phoned to ask for directions and we were able to walk to the new location. We found the restaurant only by luck AS THERE WAS NO SIGN at the new location! We should have taken that as an omen.Upon entering we we greeted by - NO ONE! We flagged a waitress down and she pointed to our reserved designated table. The menus were simply a printed off sheet of paper where we were to check off the items that we wanted to order. No explanation as to what each item was. We went to the kitchen to hand in our choices as the waitress never showed up. Next- the waitress SHOWED up and put 2 pots of white liquid on our tables 2 induction cook tops. No explanation. When she started dropping off plates of strange looking food at our table, we had no idea what each item was or what needed to be done with them! Evidently some needed to be cooked in the white broth ( after it reached a boil) and some did not . We had to ask what to do with each item. Our ladles , for retrieving the cooked food from the boiling liquid, kept falling into the boiling "soup" and it was quite the feat to retrieve them..time after time. We asked for rice numerous times..it finally arrived. Chop sticks were on the table-- several of our party went to the kitchen to get forks. Our non- existent, non English speaking waitress had to be searched out so we could pay for our meal. All in all, is was a meal to be remembered - AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY! Our advice? Choose another restaurant.
